When you dive into Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma, the narrative may feel brief at first since your primary goal is to locate the gods and restore their powers. Yet, once you accomplish this feat, you’ll find there’s a wealth of story left to explore, as you’ll meet the major antagonists.
Overview of Clarice and Where to Find Her
Clarice plays a crucial role in the storyline, making her one of the toughest characters to unlock. Even after she becomes available, establishing a romantic connection with her can be challenging, but her unique personality makes the effort worthwhile.
At the start, you’ll notice that the profiles in Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma are mostly filled with question marks. As you unlock various villages and advance the plot, these marks become identifiable characters. However, Clarice’s mark will remain hidden for quite some time.
As the game progresses, she’ll emerge as the final boss. You’ll need to activate specific shrines that bear the weight of the gods to receive their assistance in battles. After activating these shrines, you’ll traverse the Dragon’s Tomb and face several bosses, many of whom are loyal allies of Clarice.
These bosses include loyal companions of Clarice that you’ll encounter throughout your journey, with at least one being quite significant.
Once you’ve defeated these companions and reached the end of your journey, you will confront Clarice herself. Following this battle, a lengthy dialogue will unfold, leading to the villagers accepting Clarice as one of their own, thus unlocking her. Afterward, you can find her house in the bottom right corner of the Winter Village, next to Zaza’s smithy.
If you rest in the Winter Village, you can spot her leaving her home every morning, making it easier to hang out and strengthen your bond with her. Later in the day, Clarice often visits both Spring and Winter Villages, and you might catch her in other areas too.
Look for her icon in the top right corner of a village to see her current location.
Top Gifts and Hangouts for Clarice
However, these methods provide minimal bonding progress. The best way to build your connection is by spending time together each day, either by giving her a gift or participating in specific hangout events. Keep in mind that engaging in these activities will consume part of your day.
Gifting her takes 30 minutes, while other hangouts can range from 10 to 60 minutes.
Each character has their preferences, which affects the bond value you’ll gain. For instance, gifting Clarice a regular present may earn you a bond value of 8 or 13, but her favorite gifts can offer you 16 or 24 points. Similarly, the bond value from other hangouts can vary, and some activities could decrease your bond if she doesn’t enjoy them.

Best Hangouts with Clarice
Generally, it’s wise to avoid most hangouts with Clarice since she feels indifferent about them. However, if you have the chance to “Gush about the latest fixation,” go for it; it’s quick and she enjoys it. On the other hand, steer clear of “Discuss combat” or “Tell a joke” hangouts.
Clarice in Combat
Once you reach bond level one, you can add Clarice to your party and take her into battle. This is a key reason to focus on a character’s bond beyond just romance, as Clarice is primarily an attack-type character. As her bond level increases, she unlocks various abilities and recipes:

Guide to Marrying Clarice
If you’re considering a romantic partnership with Clarice in Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma, you must first achieve bond level ten with her and complete all her bond quests up to level nine. Then, cultivate the Plum Branch and create Divine Spirits to invite her to the Fateweaver Shrine.
Once you do this, you will be married the next time you sleep, and she’ll ask if you want children five days later. If you agree, your first child will arrive in ten days, and you can continue with the main story. If you decline, she’ll ask again in another five days.
