Giatta: The Healing Companion in Avowed
Giatta serves as the healer for your team in Avowed, and it’s vital to leverage her abilities to ensure she shines and keeps the whole group alive. This is especially beneficial when venturing into regions where you might not be adequately leveled up. Giatta pairs well with all companions, proving to be a lifesaver for characters with lighter armor who might be more susceptible to damage than tank-type characters.
Companions play a key role in your journey through Avowed, so it’s crucial to constantly upgrade and keep track of them. They become indispensable, especially when faced with the overwhelming number of enemies you might encounter alone. A healer is always a wise choice, and maximizing Giatta’s skills is essential to maintaining her effectiveness in battle.

How to Build Giatta in Avowed
Giatta’s Abilities
Each companion in Avowed possesses four abilities, and as you progress through the campaign, you will have seven skill points to allocate among those abilities, depending on your level. This means you can unlock two abilities completely and add an additional point, or you can distribute the points differently based on your strategy.
The four abilities Giatta has are:
- Purification: Giatta generates a revitalizing wave of energy that heals allies for 25% of their maximum health.
- Barrier: She grants all allies a protective shield that offers temporary health for 20 seconds.
- Acceleration: Giatta boosts the movement and attack speed of all allies for 15 seconds.
- Reconstruction: Her attacks heal all allies gradually.
Each ability has unique advantages, making it challenging to decide which ones to prioritize. Notably, Purification comes with one level already unlocked.
Unlocking and Upgrading Giatta’s Abilities
The usefulness of the abilities can vary based on the build you choose. Below is a ranking of which abilities to focus on first:
Main Ability | Upgrade 1 Priority | Upgrade 2 Priority | Upgrade 3 Priority |
---|---|---|---|
Purification | Boosted Essence | Essence Shielding | Essence Pressure |
Reconstruction | Critical Restore | Revitalize | Overcharge |
Barrier | Medic Shielding | Greater Barrier | Impenetrable |
Acceleration | Evade Attacks | Time Shift | Extended Acceleration |
The abilities I would recommend unlocking first are Purification (with Boosted Essence) and Reconstruction (Critical Restore and Revitalize). These seem essential for keeping your team alive. Following that, it’s worth experimenting with the other abilities to see which works best for your strategy.
Unless you’re focusing on a particularly fast build, Acceleration might not be your top priority; however, investing in Barrier could be beneficial. It provides an additional shield and temporary health, especially useful for more vulnerable builds like a Ranger/Wizard. Giatta becomes increasingly essential if your character is less durable, so that’s an important factor to consider for your party composition.
Using Giatta and Pairing Recommendations
When Giatta first joins your party, it’s crucial to keep her until you need to relocate some characters. Shortly after, you’ll gain access to Yatzli, which will offer additional choices for your team composition. Yatzli is often viewed as a vital companion due to her unique abilities, making her a great pairing for Giatta. This combination can be effective because of their complementary skill sets. Giatta also pairs well with Kai, especially since he has self-resurrection abilities, enhancing survivability.
Yatzli’s abilities are especially useful for exploration, so whenever you find yourself in a situation requiring her skills, you can always head to a nearby camp to swap out your companions. Regardless of who she’s paired with, Giatta remains a reliable healer worth including in your troop. With solid attack capabilities, she can also draw enemies away from you, keeping them at bay.
Tip
If you find yourself frequently needing extra health or struggling in battles, consider prioritizing the Barrier ability earlier in your build.
Giatta stands out among companions as she doesn’t align her abilities with player classes, making her unique. As the sole support character, she adds considerable value to your party. Ultimately, you’ll need to weigh whether her healing capabilities justify her place in your lineup while playing Avowed.
