Synergy and team setup are crucial in determining how strong characters can be in Arknights: Endfield. A well-balanced team will usually give good results, but some characters are so powerful that they can perform well regardless of the team composition.
Generally, the top characters tend to be the 6-star options. However, for players who don’t spend money on the game, there are many lower-rarity characters that can still be very effective. This guide focuses on those characters, especially the ones you’re most likely to obtain after pulling, and highlights which are easy to use and worth investing resources in.
The Best Free-to-Play Characters
To build a powerful team without spending any money, some surprisingly strong 4- or 5-star characters can hold their own against tough enemies. Their versatility, support abilities, defense, or sheer strength make them valuable additions to your roster.
Akekuri
Akekuri is a master at restoring SP, especially early on. This helps a lot when you unlock her Potential 1, which grants a 10% ATK boost that can stack up to five times each time she recovers SP with a skill.
If you get multiple copies, her passive attack buff applies to the whole team after Potential 3, making her ideal for Physical Damage teams. She also deals Heat damage and inflicts Heat status, pairing well with characters like Antal and Wulfgard.
Antal
Antal applies both Electric and Heat damage boosts to the team. Although Electric characters are scarce, his Heat boost benefits many Fire-based teams.
He can heal allies after they deal Amped damage, adding to his utility. His Potential upgrades also enable SP recovery, and he can cause Electric damage explosions on enemies affected by physical or arts status effects. His support capabilities make him a valuable free option.
Ardelia
Ardelia is a free-available character, obtained as a login bonus after several days of play. She’s primarily a healer, and her Combo Trigger enhances her ability to buff allies and apply debuffs.
She can apply the Debuff “Corrosion,” reducing enemy resistance across elements, which boosts overall damage output. Although it might be challenging to develop her Potential fully, her reliable healing makes her a solid choice for free players.
Chen Qianyu
Chen Qianyu works well in Physical teams and is accessible for free. She can easily apply Vulnerability to enemies, triggering her own Combo Trigger.
Her area attack can stack Vulnerability on foes, making her effective for AoE damage against enemies she dashes through. While best suited for Physical damage builds, her ease of use and effectiveness make her a strong free character.
Endministrator
Endministrator is highly recommended because she can serve as your main damage dealer for a good part of the game. She fits well into many team setups.
Her Talent boosts ATK by 15% for 15 seconds and increases enemies’ Physical damage taken by 10%. Her easy-to-trigger Combo, combined with her ability to deal heavy Physical damage, and few necessary buffs and debuffs, make her one of the top free options.
Perlica
Perlica is an effective early-game character who helps stagger enemies quickly and has a straightforward Combo Trigger—requiring only a Final Strike by her controlled operator to activate.
Her Electrification ability increases Arts damage to enemies and is especially useful for supporting Arts casters. Her talent, Obliteration Protocol, deals extra damage to Staggered enemies. Upgrading her Potential extends Electrification, and reaching Potential 3 grants her a temporary 20% ATK boost. She’s easy to use, helps trigger combos, and enhances Arts damage, making her a versatile team member.
