In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, characters possess unique skills that are organized into themed trees. Among these are the Mastery Skills, which emphasize the types of weapons each character can use and their movement styles.

However, not all skills are available from the beginning. To unlock additional abilities, you must improve your Knowledge Rank. Early in the game, you can access a limited selection of Mastery Skills for Naoe, but there are specific skills that you should prioritize when spending your points.

Melee Expert

Focusing on skills related to your preferred weapon type is a wise strategy in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The Katana category features numerous valuable skills to unlock. One of these is Melee Expert, which enhances damage dealt with melee weapons. This means you’ll dispatch enemies more swiftly when this skill is active.

Melee Expert is a three-tiered Mastery Skill that boosts your damage output with each point invested in it.

Tidal Wave

Tidal Wave is one of the first attack abilities you’ll unlock with Naoe. This move delivers a rapid strike that inflicts 35% ability damage and renders the enemy vulnerable, allowing you to follow up with additional attacks while they are disoriented.

As you progress in the Katana skill tree, you can enhance Tidal Wave to hit twice each time you use it.

Affliction Builder

Kusarigama

Affliction Builder is another three-tier skill that accelerates the rate at which you build Affliction. As a result, you’ll be more effective at applying poison and bleed effects.

Kunai

The Kunai is a versatile weapon that enables quick escapes and allows you to silently eliminate enemies from a distance. By holding L2/LT to aim and pressing R2/RT to throw, the Kunai inflicts 400% damage. A headshot on an unsuspecting target will take away two health segments.
