Building a 100-card singleton deck isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, even for some of the most dedicated Magic: The Gathering players. That’s why Wizards of the Coast has been releasing pre-built Commander decks since 2011. Over the years, many of these decks have proven to be more than competitive during play, and the best part is, you don’t need to spend extra on upgrades or swap out any cards. Just shuffle and start playing!
### Explorers of the Deep – The Lost Caverns of Ixalan
This Merfolk deck mainly focuses on flooding the board with lands and drawing cards. The addition of explore and the +1/+1 counters triggered by Hakbal of the Surging Soul make this pre-constructed deck surprisingly strong.
#### Commander Overview
Hakbal of the Surging Soul forces each Merfolk you control to explore at the start of combat, revealing the top card of your library. If it’s a land, it goes into your hand; if not, that Merfolk gets a +1/+1 counter. When Hakbal attacks, you can put a land from your hand onto the battlefield or draw a card instead.
#### Strategy
Your main goal is to flood the field with lands early so you can get your Merfolk creatures out quickly. Once they’re on the battlefield, you can leverage the deck’s natural draw power to cast enchantments that boost your Merfolk. Protect Hakbal once you’ve played him, as opponents will target your commander quickly, especially if you’ve built a strong board. The win conditions include attacking with buffed Merfolk or sneaking a win with Simic Ascendancy once it hits 20 counters.
#### Notable Cards
Key cards to watch for are Deeproot Elite, Master of the Pearl Trident, Merfolk Skydiver, Nicanzil, Current Conductor, Thieving Skydiver, Inspiring Call, Bygone Marvels, Deeproot Waters, and Hardened Scales.
#### Value
Since this deck was released in late 2023, its total worth is about $66.48, mainly because of cards like Kindred Discovery ($9.09) and Adrix and Nev, Twincasters ($8.98). Other over-$1 cards include Evolution Sage ($2.09), Thassa, God of the Sea ($1.84), and Alandra, Sky Dreamer ($1.76), among others.

### Animated Army – Bloomburrow
This red-green deck focuses on unleashing huge creatures to attack your opponents. The Commander, Bello, Bard of the Brambles, can turn your enchantments and artifacts into 4/4 elementals with haste, indestructibility, and the ability to draw cards if they hit opponents.
#### Commander Overview
Bello, a raccoon bard, transforms your non-aura enchantments and non-equipment artifacts into 4/4 indestructible elementals with haste. When these creatures deal damage, you can draw a card.
#### Strategy
This deck is built around creating a strong board presence and attacking relentlessly. Many creatures are expensive to cast, with some costing up to 12 mana, but Bello’s ability helps reduce this cost and protect your board from wipes. You want to build up your creatures and attack as soon as possible, capitalizing on Bello to keep your threats alive longer.
#### Notable Cards
Threatening cards include Warstorm Surge, Domri, Anarch of Bolas, Tendershoot Dryad, Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Strago and Relm, Unnatural Growth, Esika’s Chariot, Bootleggers’ Stash, and Rampaging Baloths.
#### Value
Released in August 2024, this deck is valued around $56.74. The most expensive card is Lotus Cobra at $7.24, with others like Alchemist’s Talent ($4.12) and Greater Good ($3.99). Over $1 cards include Bello, Bard of the Brambles ($1.07), Tendershoot Dryad ($3.45), and Kodama of the East Tree ($2.51).

### Revival Trance – Final Fantasy
This theme deck, based on Final Fantasy VI, emphasizes bringing cards back from the graveyard to attack again, making it both fun and effective. It uses a Mardu color scheme—red, black, and white—and focuses on graveyard recursion along with milling two cards each turn via Terra, Herald of Hope.
#### Commander Overview
Terra mills two cards at the start of combat and gains flying until end of turn. When she deals combat damage, you can pay two mana to return a creature with 3 or less power from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
#### Strategy
Gameplay revolves around using your creatures until opponents exile them. Terra’s ability to mill cards provides opportunities to bring back key threats, especially powerful low-cost creatures like General Leo Cristophe, Sigfried, Famed Swordsman, and Gogo, Mysterious Mime. These creatures often have abilities that force opponents to target them, helping you control the board.
#### Notable Cards
Significant threats include Kefka, Dancing Mad; Cyan, Vengeful Samurai; Stitch Together; Ruinous Ultimatum; Rise of the Dark Realms; Rejoin the Fight; and Anger.
#### Value
As of now, the deck is valued around $78. The priciest card is Renimate at $8.95, followed by Rise of the Dark Realms at $4.38, and Gogo, Mysterious Mime at $3.49. Other over-$1 cards include The Warring Triad ($1), Anger ($1.34), Pitiless Plunderer ($2.59), and others.
