In the world of Warframe, many Infested weapons have distinct mechanics that make them unique. The Caustacyst exemplifies this with its special heavy attack that fires a pool of toxic bile at foes. This bile remains on the ground for a brief period, serving as a means to inflict status effects or deal damage over time.
This weapon has recently introduced a Coda variant, which significantly boosts its base damage statistics through various bonuses and modifiers. In this guide, we’ll explore how to maximize your use of the Caustacyst, including how to obtain it and how to build it for high-level play in Steel Path and beyond.
How to Get the Caustacyst
You can obtain the Caustacyst blueprint from the Bio Lab in your clan dojo. To craft this weapon, you either need to be a member of a clan or purchase it with Platinum from the in-game market.
You also have the option of waiting to get the Coda variant later in the game. After completing the quest “The Hex,” you can create a Technocyte Coda to farm for Live Heartcells. Deliver these to Eleanor in Hollvania to acquire some Coda weapons. The Coda Caustacyst is available in Rotation B of her shop, which refreshes every four days.

The Caustacyst, like most scythes in Warframe, is built for heavy attacks. Its heavy attack issues a wave of bile that can leave enemies open to finishers if they come in contact with it. While the wave itself inflicts minimal damage, it takes into account your elemental damage and status chance modifiers, making it excellent for weakening tightly packed foes.
The heavy attack wave does not benefit from (Primed) Reach.
The Coda version expands the wave slightly, while also enhancing the critical stats, making it a more viable weapon choice against standard enemy units.
Caustacyst Builds
We will focus on a powerful endgame build that leverages the Caustacyst’s potential in melee combat using various elemental combinations. Start with a heavy attack to prime a large area, then follow up with melee attacks for substantial damage.

The key feature of this build is Melee Influence, an Arcane that spreads all status effects to enemies within 20 meters after applying an Electric status. Ensure you have either an Electricity progenitor bonus or Voltaic Strike on your build to trigger this Arcane; it will be your main source of damage.
To maximize status application, utilize Weeping Wounds and Vicious Frost alongside Primed Fever Strike for Viral damage or Molten Impact for Blast. Adding Galvanized Elementalist will further boost your chances of applying multiple status effects with each strike or toxic bile damage over time.
For boosting damage, incorporate Primed Pressure Point and Condition Overload into your build. The previously mentioned Galvanized Elementalist mod will also enhance your damage from status effects, particularly for Electricity procs, which can deal significant damage. If you opt for Blast instead of Viral, this damage increase will be even more noticeable. Wrap up your build with Primed Fury for enhanced attack speed.
