Carbines are often a solid middle ground between assault rifles and SMGs in Battlefield 6. They are highly versatile, with many options available, and have been staples in the game’s early meta. Their high fire rates and accuracy make them more reliable at long distances than assault rifles and more effective in sustained fights than SMGs.
Some carbines, like the AK-205, perform well right from the start without needing a lot of attachments. These guns are fun to use and accessible across all classes, even in playlists where weapons are locked.
### Best Carbines in Battlefield 6
Here’s a look at the top three carbines based on extensive testing.
#### QBZ-192
The QBZ has been our favorite in the early stages of Battlefield 6. It boasts an excellent fire rate, decent damage, and a large magazine. The weapon has very little bullet spread during the first half of its magazine, allowing you to accurately shoot enemies from 50-60 meters away. Its big magazine can take down multiple enemies with one reload—two, three, or even four at a time. This makes it more effective than SMGs in close-quarters combat or when flanking and also outperforms some assault rifles due to its rapid fire.
The ideal loadout includes a Vertical Grip, Suppressor, and laser sight. Prioritize upgrading the Vertical Grip and Suppressor first, aiming for the most expensive options for better performance.
#### M4A1
Unlocked early in the game, the M4A1 is one of the top guns. It’s an aggressive, high fire rate weapon with damage comparable to some assault rifles. When built with low recoil features like a Vertical Grip and Brake Combat, it allows precise shots over various distances. The M4A1 often beats other assault rifles on smaller maps and has enough firepower to compete with SMGs. It remains a dominant choice in the Battlefield 6 meta, and with early unlocking, there’s little reason to try less effective options.
#### AK-205
The AK-205 is a reliable workhorse. It offers incredible precision and control, greatly reducing bullet spread and making it feel smooth and easy to handle. Its main drawback is lower damage per shot—20 damage—meaning you can be outgunned at close range, especially by the M4A1 or SMGs. Despite that, its accuracy and control give it an edge in medium to long-range combat, but watch out for close encounters where power might be lacking.
