Harlowe is a new Vault Hunter in Borderlands 4 who is always eager to learn. She is a Gravitar, relying on advanced, high-tech devices to handle large groups of enemies and support her team. Her abilities focus on applying continuous elemental damage to weaken big targets and cause chaos among foes. Her skills require some strategic planning to maximize their effectiveness, but when set up correctly, Harlowe is nearly unstoppable.
She can unleash chaos on Kailros with various elemental attacks—covering the battlefield in ice with Cryo tech, making enemies glow with Radiation, or combining both for diverse damage effects.
### Gravitar Class Overview
Harlowe’s combat revolves around two main themes: heavy use of elemental damage and area-effect Action Skills. She excels at mixing gunfire with elemental traits from her gear to cause powerful status effects, often affecting entire groups of enemies simultaneously.
Since her mastery emphasizes elemental attacks, Maliwan weapons and gear are the most compatible with her playstyle. She favors Cryo and Radiation elements, so focusing on those will give the best results. You can build her with a focus on a preferred skill tree and gear around it, or tailor her around your favorite legendary weapon.
### Entanglement
Harlowe’s Action Skills cause enemies to become Entangled, marked by a rainbow glow. Although Entanglement doesn’t cause damage directly, it makes all other Entangled enemies take damage whenever one is hit. The effect is brief, but crowd control tactics—entangling multiple foes then attacking aggressively—can clear groups quickly.
### Radiation DoT Build: Creative Bursts
Her Creative Bursts skill tree emphasizes her CHROMA Accelerator Action Skill, mainly dealing radiation damage. This build is designed for passive damage output, even when you’re not actively shooting. Use a Radiation SMG and matching grenades, supplemented with a shotgun, assault rifle, and another preferred weapon.
Most Maliwan guns can switch elemental types, so keep a couple backup elements, like Fire or Shock, in case enemies resist Radiation.
### CHROMA Accelerator
This skill projects an Unstable Energy Pocket in a straight line, which entangles enemies and inflicts Cryo damage until it detonates. Upon explosion, a radiation blast occurs. The projectile takes a few seconds to charge, allowing you to aim carefully. If triggered early, it detonates faster, but you must wait for the animation to finish. The long fuse lets it travel a great distance, perfect for freezing many enemies or delivering a powerful explosion from afar.

### Multiplayer Support Build: Cosmic Brilliance
This setup emphasizes teamwork, combining Cryo and Radiation damage, especially suited for group play. It’s more defensive and stationary, focusing on placing the Flux Generator—a deployable device that buffs allies and damages or entangles enemies. The ability to throw and reposition the Flux Generator allows adaptable support.
### Flux Generator
Deploying this creates a zone that grants allies Overshield and damages/entangles enemies within. It can be thrown to reposition, making it versatile. Use it to group enemies and support your team, always alerting teammates when deploying it for maximum benefit.
### Key Skills
| Skill | Effect | Notes |
|——–|———|——–|
| Momentum | Entangling enemies increases team critical hit damage by 5% per point for 12 seconds, up to 25%. | Coordinate with teammates to focus fire. |
| Heat Death | Raises Cryo efficiency by 10% per point, up to 50%. | Enemies freeze and take damage simultaneously. |
| Confirmative Reality | Shooting Entangled enemies reduces team Action Skill cooldown by 0.5% per point, up to 1.5%. | Use rapid-fire weapons for quick recovery. |
| Absolute Zero | Freezing enemies pauses Flux Generator’s shutdown timer for 0.8 seconds each point, up to 4 seconds. | Extends support effects through freezing. |
| Refraction | Shot ricochet chances against Entangled enemies increase; critical hits double this chance. | Effective for attacking multiple foes. |
| Perpetual Engine | Damage dealt to Entangled enemies extends Flux Generator’s duration; reduces damage taken. | Keeps the zone active longer. |
| Distribution Function | Damage to enemies in the Flux Generator zone recovers shield capacity or grants overshields to allies. | Supports sustainability outside the zone. |
| Pencils Down | Reduces cooldown time and increases fire rate for the team while the generator cools down. | Keeps the team fighting longer between deployments. |
| Annihilation | Flux Generator throws grenades mimicking allies’ types within its area. | Know your teammates’ grenade types for synergy. |
Avoid equipping the Group Study capstone skill, as it replaces the Flux Generator with drones, removing the primary benefits of this support-oriented build.
