Playing Arknights: Endfield, you’ll notice characters are sorted into different rarities: six-star, five-star, and four-star units. While it’s straightforward to upgrade your four-star characters to their max potential, many six-star units might not appear in your account for quite some time.
Among these characters, five-star units like Alesh tend to show up early, and you can develop their potential over time. This makes him a strong alternative for various team compositions, as long as he’s equipped with the right gear and weapons.
### Best Weapons and Essences for Alesh
Alesh carries a sword, which fits his overall vibe. Interestingly, he doesn’t have a six-star weapon that’s better than his signature five-star. The Finchaser 3.0 stands out as the best weapon for him, though other options can also work depending on your strategy:
| Weapon Name | Rarity | Stat Boost Types | Description |
|————–|———|——————|————–|
| Finchaser 3.0 | 5 Star | Strength, Cryo DMG, Suppression | Boosts Alesh’s attack power and increases Cryo damage received by enemies when he applies Solidification. Especially good in Cryo-themed teams. |
| Fortmaker | 5 Star | Intellect, Ultimate Gain, Inspiring | Better suited for physical teams or mixed setups because it improves Ultimate efficiency. |
| Wave Tide | 4 Star | Intellect, ATK, Pursuit | A good fallback to boost attack after his combo skill activation if you lack the top-tier weapons. |
Once you select the right weapon, farm the corresponding Essence according to its stat boost types.
### Best Gear Sets for Alesh
In the Wuling region, you can find five-star gear sets optimal for endgame characters. For Alesh, the top choice is the Frontiers set, but during early gameplay, other sets can be beneficial:
| Pack Name | Best Pieces | Set Bonus |
|————|————–|————|
| Frontiers | Armor, Comms T1, Comms T1 | Reduces his skill cooldown and increases team damage when recovering SP from his skill, making it the premiership set. |
| Catastrophe | Heavy Armor, Gauze Cartridge, Gauze Cartridge | Provides a decent mid-game boost to Ultimate Gain Efficiency and SP recovery on initial skill use. |
| Armored MSGR Gear Pack | Any Pieces | Just to give a slight power increase early on. |
### Alesh’s Role in Teams
Alesh’s versatility makes him an interesting support. However, he doesn’t naturally fit into Cryo or Physical teams because his skills don’t synergize well with those types. Still, he can be a solid substitute in some team setups.
For example, pairing him with Yvonne, Gilberta, and Xaihi can maximize his Finchaser 3.0. The Cryo damage amplification from the weapon benefits Yvonne’s damage output, while Xaihi’s Cryo Inflictions can be used to apply Solidification, helping Alesh recover more SP and strengthen the team.
Alternatively, he can be included in a Physical team with Endministrator as the main DPS. Lifeng and Estella work well in this setup—Lifeng applies Physical Susceptibility, and Estella can trigger Lifted effects to benefit Endministrator.
### Abilities Overview and Priorities
Alesh’s kit is quite straightforward:
– His battle skill throws a block of ice, dealing Physical damage, and recovers some SP if Cryo Inflictions are used on enemies.
– His combo skill is easy to activate, either through Arts Reactions or by consuming enemy crystals. It grants additional SP recovery, with a chance for higher SP return based on his Intelligence (needs 600 Intelligence for maximum bonus).
– His ultimate deals significant area damage and recovers extra SP if enemies are defeated, so it’s best saved for low-HP foes.
When upgrading, focus on maxing his ultimate first, followed by his combo skill. Level up his battle skill a few times as needed and then prioritize his basic attacks less.
