The classic AUG from previous Black Ops titles has returned in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, now called the ABR A1. This burst-fire bullpup assault rifle prioritizes ease of use over handling, with very low recoil and excellent range stats. Staying at medium distances will help you win most gunfights.
If you prefer the full-auto version of the AUG, you can easily upgrade this weapon to a fully automatic assault rifle that offers a quick killing time. Here, we will explore two top builds for the ABR A1—one for multiplayer matches and another optimized for Zombies.
Multiplayer ABR A1 Build

Attachment | Pros and Cons | Advanced Stats |
---|---|---|
Compensator (Muzzle) | Reduces vertical recoil | – |
G-Grip (Underbarrel) | Improves recoil control, enhances hipfire and ADS accuracy | + Recoil stabilization, + Horizontal recoil control, + Hipfire to ADS accuracy |
Extended Mag I (Magazine) | Larger magazine to stay in fight longer | – |
Quickdraw Riser (Stock) | Faster aiming down sights | – |
Rapid Fire (Fire Mod) | Converts burst to full auto, increases fire rate | + 38% fire rate, – 18% damage falloff, – 10% bullet velocity |
The ABR A1 starts as a three-round burst gun, requiring headshots or two bursts to eliminate opponents. Adding the Rapid Fire attachment converts it into a full-auto rifle, significantly boosting damage output, especially over long distances—40 meters default range should suit most multiplayer maps.
Beyond the full-auto upgrade, the build emphasizes aggressive play. The Compensator helps control vertical recoil, while the G-Grip keeps recoil manageable and improves ADS accuracy. The Quickdraw Riser allows for instant aiming, and Extended Mag keeps reloading to a minimum.
Loadout Tips
- Perks: The ideal perk set includes Perk Greed wildcard with Scavenger and Flak Jacket in column one, Hunter’s Instinct in column two, and Slipstream in column three.
- Equipment: Use Perk Greed for perks, and for lethal and tactical, choose what fits your playstyle—Stim is a strong tactical option. Field upgrades are also your choice.
Most multiplayer players will find the Enforcer perk useful, focusing on set bonuses rather than perk combinations. Slipstream boosts mobility, Scavenger keeps your ammo topped off after fights, and Hunter’s Instinct helps track opponents. For added survivability, Flak Jacket is recommended when using Perk Greed.

---|---|---|
Volzhskiy Reflex (Optic) | Improves targeting | – |
Compensator (Muzzle) | Recoil control | – |
Long Barrel (Muzzle) | Increases effective range and reduces damage falloff | – |
Ranger Foregrip (Underbarrel) | Stabilizes horizontal recoil, boosts sprint speed | + Horizontal recoil control, + Sprint speed |
Extended Mag II (Magazine) | 60 rounds for extended combat longevity | + Ammo capacity, +12% ADS speed, +15% reload speed |
Quickdraw Riser (Stock) | Faster aiming | – |
Infiltrator Pad (Stock) | Greatly increases strafe speed while aiming | – |
Rapid Fire (Fire Mod) | Full auto conversion, faster firing rate | + 38% fire rate, -18% damage falloff, -10% bullet velocity |
Using Rapid Fire in Zombies can help this AR deliver impressive damage per second, rivaling other high-tier weapons. The setup mostly parallels the multiplayer build but with the addition of Extended Mag II and the Ranger Foregrip for better mobility and magazine size.
With three extra attachment slots, consider adding the Infiltrator Pad for increased strafe speed during aimed fire. The Long Barrel will help counter damage falloff, and choosing an optic that suits your style—either a scope or laser—can improve your accuracy. For default optics, a laser sight works well for quick targeting.
