A Bogmathr is a long-range attack unit in Norse: Oath of Blood. She wields a longbow, similar to Sigrid, and is highly effective on the battlefield. Besides shooting arrows to hit enemies, she has unique abilities suited to her role as an archer.
Her skills stem from her experience as a skilled hunter and marksman, combining expert hunting tactics with sharpshooting. Here are the top abilities to select when using a Bogmathr in Norse: Oath of Blood and tips on how to best use her in battle.
The Bogmathr is a ranged fighter you can include in your forces when engaging in battles, alongside characters like Sigrid and Gunnar. If you prefer multiple archers in your army, you can hire additional Bogmathrs from allied villages that have them available.
Check the map regularly for new recruits, as each allied village refreshes its resources and available fighters every few turns.
Her abilities are specific to archery. You can choose between two main skill paths: War-Chief or Skald, with more options unlocking as she gains experience and ranks up.
As she gains experience from battles, she can rank up once enough EXP is accumulated. The more she interacts with enemies, lands hits, and scores kills, the faster she advances.
To view her progress, upgrades, or equipment options, visit the Hirdmen tab and select her unit. Equipment changes can also be made before battles.
Abilities are divided mainly into two columns: Hunter and Marksman. Hunter skills mostly debuff enemies and buff your units, while Marksman skills focus on damage and buffs. Your play style influences which abilities you prefer. For a powerful, damage-focused ranged attack, we recommend equipping the following abilities:
| Ability | Type | Rank | Description |
|——————|————-|————|—————————————————————————————|
| Mighty Shot | Marksman | Bondi | Deals +2 armor piercing damage, plus 2-4 extra damage and knocks back 1 tile. Ideal for enemy shields facing one-on-one combat. |
| Far-Seeing | Marksman | Oathsworm | Extends range by 3, and after applying Lay Low, increases critical chance by 50%. |
| Piercing Shot | Marksman | Viking | Inflicts 2-4 damage to the target and all units in its path, with Bleed over time. Useful when enemies line up. |
| Gnawing Wounds | Hunter | Housecarl | Has a 50% chance to inflict +1 Bleed damage per turn. |
| Arrow Volley | Hunter | Legend | Strikes all units in a 3×3 area with 2-4 damage, avoiding hitting allies. |
| Ullr’s Arrow | Marksman | Einherjar | Deals 8-16 damage, making it very effective against bosses or tough enemies. |
If your Bogmathr ends up closer to enemies than intended, she can use Blood Seeker instead of Ullr’s Arrow. This ability fires shots at any enemy within 5 tiles, dealing 1-2 damage plus extra for each Bleed effect on the enemy.
It’s best to place the Bogmathr at the back of your line at the start of fights since she has a longbow and excels at ranged attacks. If she needs to fight in melee, she carries a dagger for quick added damage (+1 Damage). She can stay in one spot, take advantage of Lay Low, and bombard enemies from afar with arrows.
