Turn-based tactics and careful planning are essential to succeed in Norse: Oath Of Blood. You face off against other fierce Vikings, and your village’s growth and your units’ survival depend on which abilities you pick and when you use them in battle.
The Huntress is a special unit controlled only by Sigurd Grípsdóttir. She is a brave and independent Viking noblewoman, who, together with her twin brother Gunnar, is building a new community, training fighters, and seeking revenge for their father. She has her own unique skills and can develop two different ability paths after leveling up: Sharp-Eyed or Trickster.
As your Huntress gains experience in missions, she will rank up. You can view her progress, equip new abilities, or change gear by going to the Hirdmen tab and selecting her. Every time she levels up, you get to choose a new ability—so pick carefully, as you cannot undo your choice.
Abilities in the Sharp-Eyed category tend to be more offensive, while Trickster abilities focus more on strategy. The best approach depends on your play style, but for a balanced team, consider these recommended abilities:
| Ability | Type | Rank | Description |
|———————|————-|————|————————————————————————————————————————————–|
| Mighty Shot | Sharp-Eyed | Bondi | Attack that pierces +2 armor, dealing 1-2 damage, with a tile knockback pushing enemies into adjacent spaces. If pushed into another enemy, triggers an Attack of Opportunity. If into allies or obstacles, the enemy becomes Vulnerable. |
| Far-Seeing | Sharp-Eyed | Oathsworn | Extends your attack range by +3 and increases critical chance by 50% when using Lay Low. |
| Arrow Volley | Trickster | Viking | Shoots a 3×3 area, dealing 1-2 damage to all units within. Hitting four enemies with this attack grants the Arrow Storm achievement. |
| Hawk’s Eye | Sharp-Eyed | Housecarl | If you haven’t moved this turn, gain focus at turn end, boosting your skill +20 and critical chance +5%. |
| Bloodseeker | Trickster | Legend | Fires at enemies within five tiles, with damage increased by bleed stacks on the target—bleed damage adds +1 per turn. |
| Trance | Trickster | Einherjar | Grants an additional immediate turn after the current one. |
If you want to deal more damage quickly, instead of Trance, you can choose Ullr’s Arrow, which delivers a powerful ranged attack that deals 4-8 damage on your next turn.
For positioning, it’s best to place the Huntress behind your more heavily armored melee fighters at the start of battle. She is fast and skilled but not very durable or high in health. Her role is to stay back and attack from a distance. Use her as a marksman or assassin, striking from the rear and picking off enemies or surprising them with ranged attacks. Be cautious with abilities like Arrow Volley—try not to hit your allies—and always think about using Lay Low to set up your next moves for maximum effectiveness.
