The Parade Master in Lies of P is the first major boss battle you’ll face, pitting you against a large robot that relies on heavy swings and its weight to knock you down. Early in the game, this fight can be quite tough, especially if you’re still learning the basics of combat. Our guide on how to beat the Parade Master will help you not only succeed against this tough opponent but also build skills important for conquering all the boss fights ahead.
Here’s how to take down the Parade Master:
This fight demands patience and careful timing. It’s tempting to rush in and attack nonstop, but the parade master’s heavy blows cover a wide area and can severely damage your health if you’re caught within reach. Instead, stay at a safe distance, wait for him to stop attacking, and then strike. If you’re unsure about parrying, it’s best to step back when he starts swinging to avoid damage.
Practice perfect parrying. Timing your L1 block exactly when he attacks will negate damage and allow you to build his stagger meter—this is a key skill. His attacks are predictable enough to learn this easily, and even if you die a few times, practicing will make you more confident.
Take advantage of his back. Most of his attacks leave his back exposed, making it a prime spot for a counterattack. Getting behind him right after he finishes an attack opens up opportunities to hit him with a powerful punch using your Legion Arm.
Save your throwable items for later. Thermite and Cells are useful but limited resources, so don’t use them until he’s under a third of his health. Saving them for that moment increases your chances of breaking through his remaining health.
When he reaches about half health, he will remove his head and use it as a club, increasing his attack range. This phase is dangerous, but it’s also your chance to strike him a few times, taking advantage of his vulnerability during the head-ripping animation.
If you find yourself struggling, grind a bit beforehand. The area around the boss is perfect for gathering Ergo, which you can use to level up and buy more supplies from the Wandering Merchant. Sometimes, a few extra levels make the fight much more manageable.
Defeating the Parade Master grants you a piece of Quartz and one of the rare boss Ergos. Though these prizes are valuable, it’s best to hold onto your Ergo until you’ve unlocked some new gear and characters, as that will make your journey easier later on. You can use the Ergo immediately, but it’s generally better to save it for more significant upgrades.
Good luck, and stay patient—you’ll get through this tough fight!
