After defeating Godrick and exiting Castle Stormveil, head west to discover the partially ruined Church of Irith. Speak to Thops, who is seated beside Marika’s statue. He’ll request a donation of 10 Runes to teach you some sorceries. Once you agree, he’ll offer you the following spells.
Thops reveals his past as a member of the Academy of Raya Lucaria and expresses a desire to return. To help him, he asks you to procure an Academy Glintstone Key.
How to Obtain the Glintstone Key for Thops
The Academy Glintstone Key can only be found inside Raya Lucaria Academy, specifically hanging from a chandelier in the Debate Parlor.
To access the Academy of Raya Lucaria, you’ll first need to locate a key guarded by the Glintstone Dragon Smarag, located to the west of the Academy.
Now, make your way into Raya Lucaria Academy and defeat the Red Wolf of Radagon to reach the Debate Parlor.
Exit the Debate Parlor and take a left to explore the debris. Ascend the nearby stairs and defeat the Academy Scholars. Continue north until you spot a corpse on the railing holding an item. Leap across the railing to land on the rooftops.
Navigate the rooftops where you’ll encounter some enemies. Defeat the Marionette Soldiers and head south until you find a staircase. Ascend them and continue north until the path no longer leads ahead.
Look down to spot a ledge to jump onto. Turn around and find another ledge nearby. Take out three enemies in the area and enter the building via a broken window. Cautiously traverse the rafters until you spot a chandelier below holding an item.
Drop down to claim the spare Academy Glintstone Key meant for Thops. Then, fast travel back to the Church of Irith and give him the key. Thops will reward you with the Euridition Gesture, which can help you solve the puzzle at the Converted Fringe Tower. Afterward, he will depart for the Academy of Raya Lucaria.
Rest at the grace site, and you will encounter a silver scarab. Defeat it to earn the Ash of War: Thops’ Barrier.
Locate Thops Within the Academy of Raya Lucaria
Fast travel to the Schoolhouse Classroom site of grace, then step outside. You’ll find Thops’ lifeless body resting in a chair in the courtyard. Interact with his corpse to gather the items he has left behind.
