Temple’s signature SMG is one of the more compelling sidearms in Warframe. Acquired through the Solstice Square Defense mission, this unique pistol launches explosive rounds that detonate upon reloading, sending those very projectiles back into the magazine. Due to this mechanism, the Riot-848 has no traditional ammo reserves.
This design allows for impressive crowd control capabilities and gives the weapon infinite ammo. In this article, we’ll explain how to acquire the Riot-848, detail how its reloading feature functions, and provide a strong endgame build to help you excel in Steel Path missions and Archimedea content.
How To Get The Riot-848
The components needed for the Riot-848 are found in the Solstice Square Defense mission in Hollvania. To access this, complete “The Hex” story quest, leading you to Warframe 1999. Afterward, you can finish rounds in Solstice Square for a shot at obtaining Temple’s SMG.
If you’re having difficulty getting the components to drop, don’t worry. You can buy the necessary components directly from Flare at the Hollvania mall hub. These components require Beating Heartstrings, a currency earned in Solstice Square. For detailed info on acquiring Beating Heartstrings and specific drop rates, check our Riot-848 acquisition guide.

Temple’s renowned pistol operates like a rapid-firing SMG, launching explosive projectiles. These initially deal Puncture damage, but when you reload, all previously fired projectiles explode, dealing moderate Blast damage. This explosive effect can be enhanced but is limited to the number of rounds in the magazine. If the magazine becomes full, the oldest projectile will detonate automatically.
Thanks to its high critical stats and unique reload feature, the Riot-848 excels against unarmored enemies. However, for tougher opponents, consider equipping damage-boosting mods or utilizing effects like Arcane Pistoleer to expedite kills. The explosion provides solid status chance, making this weapon a great option for applying status effects.
The explosion from projectiles isn’t affected by Synth Charge’s damage boost. However, (Primed) Fulmination is effective, though the blast radius is quite small, making the difference practically unnoticeable.
Riot-848 Builds
Given that the Riot-848 is a relatively straightforward weapon, our focus will be on a simple yet effective endgame build in this guide. While it may not be groundbreaking, this build enhances the weapon’s damage output for tackling Steel Path missions. With the right Warframe support, it should also effectively handle Temporal Archimedea.

Since most of your damage comes from its unique reloading feature, Galvanized Shot isn’t the best choice for scaling damage. Instead, use Hornet Strike and Secondary Deadhead (or Merciless), which provide sufficient base damage for the majority of content. Additionally, Galvanized Diffusion and Lethal Torrent will enhance your fire rate and multishot capabilities.
Next, focus on critical mods. Primed Pistol Gambit is your best bet for critical chance, but if you don’t have it, consider using Creeping Bullseye as an alternative. Then, Galvanized Crosshairs will help you reliably achieve orange crits, while Primed Target Cracker boosts your critical damage to maximize those hits. Complete your build with your preferred elemental damage mods.
