As you play through the chapters of Lego Horizon Adventures, you’ll unlock new areas within Mother’s Heart, which lets you explore additional levels in the wilderness. Additionally, you can revisit completed regions to tackle Apex Machine Hunts, marked by red indicators on your map.

Completing Apex Machine Hunts rewards you with Apex Bricks, which are red bricks similar to the Gold Bricks earned from finishing levels and mission board goals. However, the game doesn’t immediately explain their purpose, so you might be wondering, what do they actually do?

What Are Apex Machine Hunts In Lego Horizon Adventures?

These new levels take you back to earlier game areas, including both wilderness and Cauldrons, where you’ll engage in battles against more challenging enemies. This could involve facing a tougher machine accompanied by reinforcements or one of the larger boss machines with more intense and hazardous attacks.

While these hunts introduce tougher challenges, they are not significantly different from what you’ve encountered in the main game. Just be prepared for a bit more difficulty and to have higher-level characters.

What Do You Get For Completing An Apex Machine Hunt?

Once you finish an Apex Machine Hunt, you’ll earn an Apex Brick, which will stack at the top of the screen alongside your Gold Bricks.

You will also earn rewards like new decorations for Mother’s Heart, fresh outfits, and other items typically unlocked through standard levels.

After finishing a level, your screen will notify you whenever you reach a new Apex Brick Milestone, keeping track of your progress.

What Do The Apex/Red Bricks Unlock In Lego Horizon Adventures?

Collecting all the Apex Bricks in an area will unlock Expeditions in that region. Expeditions let you revisit levels in a more exploratory mode, allowing you to run through battles and gain additional studs without the pressure of completing the objectives.

However, completing an expedition won’t yield any additional Gold or Apex Bricks—only a blue ghost brick will be awarded, which doesn’t contribute to your collection.

Overall, there are a total of 16 Apex Bricks to find. Once you’ve collected them all, that’s it—you’ve reached the limit. No special unlocks or further challenges are provided, and you’ll find yourself finishing up this extra content fairly quickly.
