A surprising announcement today revealed that a popular last-generation game will be available for free on PS5 and PS4 after nearly ten years. While Fortnite is now a household name, many newcomers might not realize that it originally launched as a paid loot-shooter titled Fortnite: Save the World. Epic Games has now decided to make the 2017 game free for everyone.
Save the World will go free on all platforms starting April 16. Interested players can sign up now. The more users who register, the greater the in-game rewards shared among everyone.
“After almost a decade, the game that started it all is opening its doors to even more players,” Epic Games stated. “As a thank you for nine years of world-saving efforts, current players will receive Superchargers, Vouchers, and Gold on April 16.”

This move comes shortly after Epic Games revealed it’s raising the price of V-Bucks due to increased operational costs for Fortnite. Although the denominations will stay the same, players will get fewer V-Bucks for the same amount of money.
A thoughtful way to offset the price hike!
