The Fortnite Hammerhead Choppas mark the comeback of flying vehicles in the game. These helicopters let players quickly move across the map and get an advantage from above. Unlike previous choppas, these don’t have built-in guns, so they’re not overpowered. However, they’ve been upgraded to allow players to step onto the side rails and shoot their weapons while the helicopter hovers, which adds an exciting new way to attack.
Besides fast travel, Hammerhead Choppas are also needed for two recent weekly quests: hitting enemies from a distance and using the loudspeaker near opponents. As the season continues, more challenges involving these choppas may come up, so here are the current Hammerhead Choppa locations we’ve found so far.
Hammerhead Choppas usually stand at OXR bases on landing pads, ready for takeoff. You can also find them at spots like the Burd To Go in the middle of the island. We’ve marked five locations on the map above, but there could be more, so we’ll update this list as new ones are found.
Getting hits on enemies over 50 meters while in the Choppa might seem tricky because they have no guns, but it’s actually pretty doable. When flying, you can press the right stick to move onto the side rails. The helicopter will hover briefly before slowly descending, giving you a chance to shoot at enemies. A clever trick is to fly low over swarm areas to spawn bugs—since bugs count as opponents—you can then rise above 50 meters and pick them off easily.
To activate the loudspeaker feature while close to other players, press down on the D-pad during flight. This is useful if you’re within 100 meters of someone, as you can fly low, look for players shooting at you, and then trigger the loudspeaker to complete that part of the quest.
