Finding true love in Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t straightforward. However, if you’re determined to test it, the Circus of Last Days in Act 3 offers the perfect setting. How well do you really know your companions? Can you give them the answers they want, even if those answers aren’t entirely honest?
While honesty can be tough, it doesn’t have to be difficult if you choose the right responses. To help you out, here’s a cheat sheet for romance. Keep it handy—you never know when you might need it during your next date night in Faerûn.
Updated March 28, 2026, by Kaitlyn Peterson: This guide now reflects recent patch updates. All answers have been revised for each companion to suit different situations. Also, there’s new info about a possible surprise appearance during the trial.
Where To Find The Trial Of Love
The Trial of Love is inside the Circus of the Last Days. You can access it immediately after entering Rivington for the first time. After arriving there, follow the main road and look on the left side. You’ll see a man handing out flyers next to a Ghoul named Benji. Talk to him, and he’ll let you in.
Alternatively, you can sneak into the circus from the back through the graveyard at the Open Hand Temple.
Inside The Circus
On the main path at the circus, keep walking until you meet Zethino, a druid standing under a big tree in the middle of the grounds. Talk to her, and she’ll ask if someone from your party is interested in taking the test. Your choices are limited to your current companions, provided they have a high enough opinion of you—even if no romantic feelings are involved.
If you’re playing cooperatively, only the companions with you count. To test with someone not present, you’ll need to go back to camp and bring along that character.
Note: You can only complete the Trial of Love once per campaign, even in co-op mode. Only one of you can finish it, so consider carefully.
Correct Answers For The Trial Of Love
The structure of the trial remains the same, but the questions and ideal answers depend on which companion you bring. You’ll face three questions, and your goal is to choose the best answers. Interestingly, honesty isn’t always the best approach. Sometimes, giving a response your companions prefer will win their approval more than truthful answers.
Even if you get every answer wrong, it won’t harm your relationship with your chosen companion. Still, paying attention to these details can help with their side quests and conversations later, especially since many partner quests end in the Lower City.
Note: If you’ve met Orin before attempting the trial, Zethino might be one of her disguises. It doesn’t affect the trial but is part of the build-up to the fight with Orin.
