At the start of High On Life 2, you’ll immediately see that the Rhea Foundation and everything related to it are evil. Your goal is to find and eliminate the main targets so you can reach the foundation’s CEO. One of the targets along the way is Professor Berkel, who is basically a sentient dolphin.
To defeat Berkel, you’ll need to disguise yourself as a scientist to access the research lab. Once inside, you’ll have to solve several platforming puzzles to reach the boss arena. The fight against Berkel won’t be easy, so it’s a good idea to upgrade your weapons beforehand.
How to Enter Gessie’s Mouth
When you begin Professor Berkel’s bounty, you’ll be taken to the beach, where you need to make your way to the research site. Along the way, you’ll encounter some biker gang members who need to be defeated. Once you reach the research site, you can stealthily kill Branson Cooper and take his clothes to disguise yourself.
Afterwards, press the nearby button to enter the site. Use the following dialogue options to convince the NPCs that you’re Branson Cooper:
- “Of course we are”
- “We are experiments”
Speak with the scientist nearby, and they’ll ask you to shut down three other scientists’ equipment. Here’s how to do each:
- First Scientist: He will offer you a drink he created. Drinking it will turn your screen pink and will make him comply with your request to turn off the power. You can drink multiple bottles, each with different effects, but the last one will kill you — at that point, you’ll respawn near Jar Jar.
- Second Scientist: She’s afraid of floating objects. Talk to her and pick “Gravity research” to get her to shut down her equipment.
- Third Scientist: He’ll ask you to pick up a cannon-worm and use its projectile to shoot the nearby targets. After doing this, he’ll shut down his equipment as well.
You can then enter Gessie’s mouth after defeating a number of enemies that will recognize your disguise.
How to Reach Professor Berkel
Once inside Gessie’s mouth, you will traverse various areas to reach Professor Berkel. First, a scientist will ask you to recalibrate the biometer. To do this peacefully, interact with the computer and select the “Creature” dialogue option.
Progress through Gessie’s body until you find a large open area with a floating ship. Your task is to climb on top of this ship to proceed. Before starting the puzzle, use the ramp on the left to access a small area where you’ll find a Luglox with a collectible.
Next, use Sheath’s ability to connect generator cells — one above the door you entered through, and the other on the structure near the water. This will create a wind current that helps you move forward. Cross the beams, defeat enemies, and locate a Luglox in the small structure near where you fought ghosts initially. After claiming it, use the wind currents again to continue.
Further inside, you will need to place a Lugblob on top of a piano. Use Travis and Jan’s levitation power to lift the piano, then the blob to climb higher and move through the area. Continue using broken ship parts to skate and reach the next combat zone.
On the ship, finish off enemies and then defeat Tiffany once again. Afterward, follow the tracker to Birkell’s location to start the final fight.
How to Defeat Professor Berkel
The battle with Professor Berkel is straightforward—you need to deal damage until her health reaches zero. But watch out; her attacks have a big area of effect, so staying mobile is crucial to avoid getting hit.
After defeating her the first time, you’ll face Tiffany, who’ll now have enhanced attacks similar to Berkel’s.
Once both foes are defeated, a cutscene will trigger, ending Berkel’s bounty.
