The Solstice event introduces three new weapons into Destiny 2’s sandbox, including a revamped bow with an improved perk pool. This year’s summer event features bonus loot from nearly any activity, with drops upgraded to a higher tier than your current Power level, making it easier to acquire Tier 4 and Tier 5 gear.
These weapons are particularly rewarding to enhance with strong perks. Highlights include an S-tier grenade launcher that controls areas effectively, a powerful bow suited for PvE, and a solid SMG for close-quarters combat. Here’s a breakdown of the best possible perk combinations for each weapon, useful in both PvE and PvP situations.
Festival Flight
Area denial grenade launchers are excellent tools in PvE, creating a lingering energy pool to control spaces. Festival Flight is the first Strand-based area denial launcher we’ve seen, featuring a perk pool as versatile as Velocity Baton. If you missed out on a strong roll from Vesper’s Host, now’s a good time to pick up a solid Festival Flight during Solstice.
For PvE, pairing Demolitionist with Attrition Orbs allows for enhanced ability uptime, as damage ticks help generate Transcendence energy and spawn Orb of Power upon kills. Using Envious Arsenal and Elemental Honing can maximize damage in hot-swap DPS setups, though Prismatic alignment is necessary for full effectiveness. This weapon isn’t recommended for PvP since area denial damage and ammo efficiency are poor against Guardians.

Fortunate Star
This bow received a significant buff this year, with Bungie adding an excellent perk pool and converting its archetype to a Precision Frame, boosting its overall damage. Focus on improving accuracy for a smooth experience across content.
In PvE, equip Destabilizing Rounds to increase AoE damage, and pair it with either Repulsor Brace for free overshields or Successful Warm-Up to reduce draw time. PvP players won’t find this bow as compelling, since it lacks perks that enhance hipfire or blint setups, though fast draw speeds can be achieved with Archer’s Tempo and Archer’s Gambit—just land a precision hipfire shot and let the arrows fly.

Yeartide Apex
Although SMGs haven’t been dominant recently due to sandbox power creep, Yeartide Apex remains a notable option. As the first outside Salvation’s Edge to roll Chaos Reshaped in the second column, it offers a significant damage boost if you stay in combat for 24 seconds, healing at max stacks and making it a versatile choice until Iron Banner returns in September.
In PvP, equipping Target Lock can reduce its TTK to about 0.67 seconds, making it competitive with close-range weapons. Pair it with Heal Clip for survivability after kills or Attrition Orbs to generate orbs on threats.
