Sometimes you have friends or acquaintances to team up with for a game, and other times you don’t. Not having allies can feel like a serious disadvantage in certain types of games, but Arc Raiders is different. It can be played entirely solo or mostly by yourself.
However, if you’re going solo, you’ll need to change how you play. Mistakes might send you right back to your underground room, but if you play carefully, it can be a rewarding and exciting way to experience the game.
Stealth Is Your Best Friend
Staying unnoticed as a solo player is your biggest strength. There are many skills that help you stay stealthy—like using visual cover such as bushes and trees, scouting out areas before entering, and minimizing noise. Playing smart is more important than anything else.
Tip: Use plenty of cover, observe your surroundings before moving, and keep noise levels down.
Not Every Situation Is Hostile
In Arc Raiders, many encounters can be friendly, especially when playing solo. While some players are quick to fire on sight, they’re less common here. You can try to influence situations to make them less aggressive or even neutral.
Tip: Use the emote wheel often, especially the “Don’t Shoot” option. Couple it with crouching or jumping to communicate non-verbally. When near an extraction point, players often want to escape with their loot rather than fight. Convincing others to cooperate can help everyone leave safely.
Don’t Risk Surprising People
Approaching someone suddenly can lead to hostility. Sometimes you’re hiding and listening as another player enters a building—noticing them without being seen. Then, you face a choice: do you stay hidden and hope they ignore you? Or take the shot and risk alerting others?
Tip: It’s safer not to surprise opponents. Taking chances can lead to unnecessary conflicts.
Be More Mindful of ARC
ARC enemies are much more dangerous when you’re playing alone, especially larger models like Rocketeers. While it’s easier to deal with them in a group, solo players will have a tougher time. That said, you can also attract ARC enemies to other players, creating opportunities for distraction or trouble.
Tip: Draw ARC attention with a lure or by firing at them to create chaos for opponents.
Door Blockers Are Great
Indoor areas, especially larger or multiple-room spaces, are risky for solo players. Multiple doors mean enemies can come from different sides. Door Blockers are useful because they slow enemies down, force them to make noise, and give you extra time to decide your next move or set an ambush.
Tip: Use Door Blockers to make enemies take longer to enter rooms, helping you control the situation.
You Will Need To Be Well-Rounded
Since you won’t have backup, it’s crucial to carry everything you might need. You probably won’t be able to bring a lot of gear, so prioritize essential items. Have Shield Rechargers, Bandages, one versatile weapon, or a couple of specialized ones. Also, carrying explosive devices can be useful.
Tip: Many useful utility items like Door Blockers and Light Impact Grenades are inexpensive to craft or buy. Bring what you can without overloading your kit. If needed, you can drop less essential gear to carry what’s most important.
Note: Adjust your equipment based on your play style and what you expect to face in each mission.
