A well-balanced team can dominate in Highguard, and a tough defender like Una can be a game-changer. She might not excel at area control like Slade or giving teammates buffs like Mara, but Una is excellent at protecting objectives when it matters most—and you get rare loot while doing it.
At first, her abilities might seem like they work well with a straightforward, “fire-and-forget” style, but to really make her shine, you need to use your resources wisely. Below, we’ll go over each of Una’s skills, how to use them effectively, some general tips, and the best weapons to pair with her.
How to Use Una’s Abilities
All of Una’s skills involve her leafy friends, with her ultimate summoning a much larger ally.
| Ability | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Forest Wisps | Tactical | Summon mischievous spirits that throw concussion grenades. |
| Helping Hand | Passive | Spirits appear near chests to deliver loot. |
| Tree Walker | Ultimate | Summon a large forest spirit that launches explosive spirits. |
Forest Wisps
This is the most crucial skill to master. When you press and hold the Tactical button, you can see where the Wisps will spawn—though they have a limited range and won’t always go exactly where you aim. The Wisps stay in one spot and lob concussion grenades at enemies, giving you a major advantage in fights.
Remember, the Wisps won’t be effective unless you’re around. Concussing enemies without being there to follow up is pointless. Una is best when you lure enemies into areas you control with your minions. Also, keep in mind that enemies can destroy the Wisps, so hide them in corners or clever spots for safety.
Helping Hand
Loot can be easy to find in Highguard, but Una’s passive ability, Helping Hand, can still come in handy. The Spirit helpers tend to appear near chests, which can be easy to miss. Listen for audio cues that Una is talking to them. While simple, it’s important not to forget about this ability, especially to grab rare weapons.
Tree Walker
Una’s ultimate is similar to her Wisps — you place it, and it does the rest. The Tree Walker is much bigger and throws out explosive spirits instead of concussion grenades. Since ultimates are limited, choose your spot carefully. It’s most effective during a raid or when defending an objective, so summon it there to maximize its impact. Always consider using it during critical moments like bomb defuses or base defenses.
Best Weapons & Strategies with Una
One of the strengths of playing Una is the flexibility with weapon choices. You don’t need to control her abilities actively once they’re deployed, so you can engage enemies from a distance. However, her defensive style means she should always carry at least one close-range weapon. Personally, I prefer the Viper SMG, but shotguns and the Corsair are solid options too.
Where to Use Her Skills
- The Tree Walker works best near objectives, whether you’re defending or controlling a point. Avoid tight, confined spaces with only long-range weapons.
- Use Forest Wisps near raid objectives to stun enemies and bombard them with the Tree Walker, combining for a powerful offensive or defensive play.
- Wisps are less useful outside raid phases since they need to stay stationary, but they can still help in other situations if you hide them well.
Una might not rack up kills like Atticus, but she can make areas dangerous for enemies to move through, influencing the flow of the game. She’s a utility-focused hero, one of the most interesting in Highguard, and her hands-off design makes her a great choice for newbies or players learning the game.
In summary, Una is all about protecting your team and controlling space through her plant-based abilities. Use her skills smarter, pick weapons that complement her playstyle, and you’ll find she can turn the tide of any match.
