The boss Moorwing in Silksong takes some planning to defeat. It has predictable attack patterns, but that doesn’t mean the fight is easy. Moorwing has a lot of health, and even if you bring a helper, it remains one of the tougher challenges early in the game.
Here’s how to handle the fight: First, head to the room above Moorwing to save Garmond. Once saved, you can summon him during the battle for a small but helpful distraction. Equip the Silkspear instead of the Thread Storm, as it’s simpler to control during the quick-paced fight. Stay close to the right side of the arena near the raised platform—Moorwing’s attacks are harder to dodge if you stay far away. Also, be careful not to get hit just by touching it, and use your tools to deal extra damage if you have Shell Shards.
Remember, Moorwing has a ton of health, so this is a slow fight of wear and tear. If you think you’re close to winning, keep going—you’re probably still in for a while.
Moorwing has several attack moves you can learn to dodge and counter. It often charges at the ground quickly, draws back claws, or sends out blades that bounce off surfaces. During phase 2, it launches rolling blades that meet at the ground and bounce away, requiring you to leap over or dodge carefully. It also fires a pair of spinning blades in opposite directions, forcing you to stay alert and avoid the path of the blades as they bounce.
To make the fight easier, you can summon Garmond, who appears every time you face Moorwing after releasing him. While Garmond doesn’t deal much damage, he can help distract Moorwing a little, giving you an edge.
There’s also a cheap trick to beat Moorwing that might get patched soon. Equip the Crest of the Reaper and start the fight in the room connected to Garmond’s area. When Moorwing tries to attack, it will bump into the ceiling divider instead, leaving it vulnerable to your downward swipe with the Reaper Crest. Just dash up and hit it while it’s stuck.
