Many Augers in Borderlands 4 are not just involved in mining but are also explorers or talented builders and crafters. Some, like Wrenchless Allen, focus more on the artistic side of creating things rather than practical work.
Wrenchless Allen has a small art display stand and invites players to join him in an art project if they have the time. However, he isn’t sure where the instructions for the artwork are anymore. You’ll need to help him find his instructions before starting the actual art, and you might have to deal with some of his rather harsh art critics too.
How to Build the Chair for Wrenching Allen
This side mission becomes available after you unlock Belton’s Bore as a faction town, which happens after you complete the main mission, Shadow of the Mountain.
Wrenching Allen is sitting at his stand on the second floor on the right side of the room. Talk to him to start the quest. He first asks you to check in the trash, which you can find on the floor above where the vending machines are.
Search the trash can near the stairs to move forward. Then, head to the laundry area, located directly below and across from the trash can. Despite searching all six washing machines, you won’t find the instructions, so you need to leave Belton’s Bore.
Follow the path out of town, then jump onto the road between the two bridges. Search the grills near the small rest area to find the instructions. After a call from Wrenching Allen, you’ll be ambushed by a named Ripper and a few tougher enemies.
Defeat them, then return to Belton’s Bore to find the chair pieces Wrenching Allen needs. There are five pieces scattered around town:
- One is next to the entrance bridge, against a wall, near a large cube with a painted design.
- One is against a crate next to the Belton’s Bore checkpoint.
- One is on the floor inside a rounded alcove on the left side of the room.
- One is upstairs on the upper floor, above the trash can area.
- One is against two blue barrels just outside the town entrance.
Bring all five pieces back to Wrenching Allen at his stand to assemble the chair. Afterward, you’ll face a choice: either sell the chair to Allen or destroy it.
The Decision and Its Consequences
When you make the choice, Wrenching Allen may become hostile, but you cannot damage or kill him. The only target is the chair.
- If you sell the chair: Allen will mention it, and you will earn an extra Cash reward on top of the standard rewards, which include experience points, 1,000 Cash, and some Eridium.
- If you destroy the chair: You will still receive the standard rewards, but you won’t get the extra Cash.
Both choices complete the mission successfully, and the main difference is the additional Cash. The extra Cash isn’t worth much, as you can easily make the same amount by selling a single gun, so you aren’t missing out on much either way.
