Thieves are never appreciated. They take what isn’t theirs without a care, ignoring the feelings of the owner and the fallout from their actions. This is precisely how Earil feels about a troublesome thief in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. He’s had enough of this individual causing chaos in his life.
Earil reaches out to you for help, asking you to look into the issue. As you start your investigation, you quickly discover that there’s more complexity to this thief than you initially thought. What appears to be a simple case of theft transforms into a tangled situation, requiring you to make an important choice.
This quest is included in the Shivering Isles DLC.
How To Start The Brithaur Quest
In Crucible, there’s chatter that Earil is dealing with issues involving someone named Brithaur, which draws your attention.
To kick off this quest, you can ask any local about rumors or simply overhear conversations while wandering the town.
You’ll find out that Brithaur isn’t just any thief—he’s notorious for always getting caught, creating trouble not just for Earil but for the entire town.
How To Find Brithaur
Your next step is to locate Brithaur. You might find him wandering around town, at his home, or attempting to steal from a shop. The quest marker should guide you to his location.
When you approach him, he’ll claim to be a ‘collector’ and will mention that his collection is almost complete; the only thing missing is a few flawless pearls.
At this point, you’ll need to decide how to finish the quest.
How To Complete The Brithaur Quest
Kill Brithaur
The quickest and easiest way to wrap up the quest is by eliminating Brithaur. Make sure to carry out this action discreetly, away from guards who might interfere.
The best opportunity might be at night when he’s asleep at his home. Once you’ve taken care of him, don’t forget to search his body for his heart as proof to take back to Earil.
Earil will greatly appreciate it since he won’t have to worry about Brithaur anymore, and he’ll reward you with more gold than usual.
Help Brithaur
If you opt to assist Brithaur instead, you’ll need to find flawless pearls. However, keep in mind that finding them is based on random chance.
Your options include farming these pearls from Baliwogs if you’re at a higher level, as they can typically be found near water regions in the southern part of the map.
Alternatively, exploring dungeons and caves can lead you to treasure chests, where you might also come across the pearls, though it can take time to locate them.
If you’re really struggling to find this item, you can use the console command: player.additem 38b9a 5.
Once you’ve acquired the pearls, return to Brithaur and hand them over. He will assure you that he won’t steal again now that his collection is complete.
Finally, return to Earil and let him know what happened. You may receive less gold compared to killing Brithaur, but your reward will still bring him satisfaction, wrapping up the quest successfully.
