Your first big decision in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 involves what to do with Benny Muldoon, the Sheriff of Seattle, who works for Camarilla Court Prince Ryong Choi. Unfortunately, Benny has gone on a violent rampage, leaving behind a trail of blood. To stay in Seattle, you need the Prince’s approval, which means you have to find Benny and bring him back, no matter how.
You’ll find Benny in a remote part of a construction site, where he’s been staked by some Anarchs. After freeing him and winning the fight, you’ll face a choice: deliver Benny to the Prince as originally instructed, or let Katsumi and her group of Anarchs take him so they can deal with him in their own brutal way.
What happens if you give Benny to Katsumi?
If you decide to let Katsumi keep Benny (by choosing “You may keep Benny”),:
- Your relationship with Katsumi will improve (+Impressed).
- Your relationship with Ryong will take a hit (+Disappointed).
- Benny will stay with the Anarchs, likely to be questioned and eventually killed. In this case, you’ll become the Sheriff of Seattle instead.
Katsumi will be surprised that you let her keep Benny. She’ll say you’re alright with her and invite you to meet her at a bar called Hole in the Wall to talk about other opportunities. You can meet her right after you return to Ryong.
This choice will start your relationship with Katsumi on a positive note. Your bond with Ryong will suffer, but it’s not a big deal since she’ll still make you Sheriff in Benny’s place, so the immediate impact is minor.
What if you return Benny to Ryong?
If you choose to give Benny back to Ryong:
- Katsumi will let you go, but your relationship with her will suffer (+Angry).
- Your relationship with Ryong will improve (+Impressed).
- Benny will lose his position as Sheriff and disappear from the story. You’ll become the new Sheriff of Seattle.
Later on, you can still meet Katsumi again at Hole in the Wall, but her attitude will be worse. This choice doesn’t change the story much in the short term, but over time, how you deal with these factions affects which ending you get. Building good relationships with the faction leaders can lead to different endings, so your choices matter.
Recommendations:
It’s generally better to give Benny to the Anarchs if you want to keep options open. This allows you to build positive relationships with both factions, giving you more choices later.
However, if you’ve already upset Ryong and want to make amends, returning Benny to her might be a better way to stay on her good side. You can always make it up to Katsumi later. Also, if you know which faction aligns best with your preferred ending, handing Benny directly to them can speed up your progress.
In the end, pick the choice that feels right to you. Nothing’s final, and you can always fix any relationship issues later. Focus on what fits your story and morals, and enjoy forging your own path through the game.
