The upcoming Triumphant Light expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket is set to launch soon. This expansion serves as the mid-season update, introducing new cards that align with the Mythical Island additions released at the end of last year. Triumphant Light aims to enhance the Gen 4 and Sinnoh Pokémon introduced in last month’s Space-Time Smackdown expansion and includes significant Pokémon up to Arceus: the Creator Pokémon, which is sure to spark discussions on balance. In this article, we’ll dive into all the key details regarding the Triumphant Light expansion, including release dates, newly revealed information, new cards, and more!

Here’s what we currently know about the Triumphant Light booster pack expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket:

  • Release Date/Time: February 27, 2025, at 10:00 PM PST
  • Signature Card: Arceus ex (Normal/Colorless)
  • New Mechanics: Link Abilities

The standout feature of the Triumphant Light expansion is undoubtedly Arceus ex, a card that embodies the legendary god Pokémon crucial to the series’ lore. Arceus ex is a colorless/Normal-type Pokémon and features a special “Fabled Luster” ability that renders it immune to any special conditions. More significantly, a lot of Arceus’s power hinges on “Link Abilities,” passive effects activated by certain other cards from the expansion. For instance, the new Raichu card from Triumphant Light has the “Resilience Link” ability, stating, “If you have Arceus or Arceus ex in play, this Pokémon receives -30 damage from attacks.” Various Pokémon will gain different advantages when Arceus is on the field, but, as of now, none seem to confer any benefits back to Arceus itself. Will Arceus builds carve out a spot in the top tiers of Pokémon TCG Pocket decks? It’s hard to predict at this moment, especially since colorless or highly diverse types seldom dominate the meta. Nevertheless, Arceus may have the potential to disrupt the status quo.

Mark your calendars: the Triumphant Light booster expansion launches on February 27, 2025, at 10:00 PM PST. There is also an exciting feature on the horizon: Ranked Matchmaking, allowing players to compete against others of similar skill levels. However, no specific release date has been provided yet, only that it is expected to arrive “by the end of March.” Be sure to check our Pokémon TCG Pocket Events calendar for further updates.
