ReFantazio: Conquering the Courage Challenge

Metaphor: ReFantazio features more than 40 trophies to unlock during your gameplay, including the elusive “At Your Own Risk” trophy, which is hidden behind a series of trials known as the Test of Courage. While this may sound daunting, the tasks themselves are straightforward. The real test lies in finding the bravery to tackle them head-on.

Courage is one of the five Royal Virtues in the game. Its level can impact your ability to embark on different quests, form bonds with followers, and engage in various activities, depending on your current ranking. To fully complete the Test of Courage, you must possess a considerable amount of bravery at a high rank. If you aim to earn every trophy, including “At Your Own Risk,” you’ll need to maximize your Courage stat.

Unlock the ‘At Your Own Risk’ Trophy

To embark on the Test of Courage in Metaphor: ReFantazio, make your way to Thoroughfare Square in Martira. Here, you’ll find a group of townspeople gathered around a young man standing on a wooden platform that extends over the cliff—a scene detailed in a video by Trophy Guides. Speak to the Spirited Youth, who will present you with a challenge to bungee jump from the platform as a test of your courage. Joining in will boost your social Courage stat, but you’ll need to pay 250 Reeve for the rope to start.

Choose the option “I’ll take the plunge” to begin the challenge, and a brief cutscene will play. This action will reward you with courage points, but the task doesn’t end there. The Test of Courage consists of three parts, so you’ll need to attempt the jump three times. Each attempt will feature a thinner rope, and the cost for the rope will increase, meaning you’ll need to spend more Reeve with each go. Here’s the breakdown of the challenge fees:

Although it’s recommended to enter the challenge with a high Courage rank, you’ll specifically need to reach Rank 5: Heroic to complete the third jump. Achieving this won’t be easy, but you can increase your Courage stat by taking on quests and activities marked with a sword-in-hand symbol scattered throughout Euchronia. Completing your first two attempts will also grant you courage points, so if you start around Rank 4, you might even finish the challenge in one go.

Rewards for the Test of Courage

Upon completing this challenge, you’ll earn not just a boost to your Courage stat but also the “At Your Own Risk” trophy, bringing you closer to collecting all trophies in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Additionally, after your third jump, you’ll receive a Foreign Coin, which, although its purpose isn’t entirely clear, is likely valuable for selling to earn back some Reeve.

Completing the Test of Courage is a great way to level up your Courage stat. Once you achieve Rank 5, you’ll unlock access to tougher bosses and more quest opportunities in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
