Battlefield RedSec is a free Battle Royale game that pairs with Battlefield 6. It features a large map called Fort Lyndon, similar in style to Warzone. One hundred players drop into the map, forming squads, with only one squad emerging victorious. Players can use various vehicles, cause destruction, and customize their weapon loadouts to bring their favorite guns into the fight.
There are several new mechanics in RedSec, such as completing missions, looting weapons and attachments, and accessing vehicles. With so much to keep track of at first, a simple step-by-step guide can help you get started and succeed in your first game.
How To Access Your Custom Weapon Loadouts In RedSec
Custom weapon drops are crucial in RedSec. During a match, you’ll get a notification when a Custom Weapon Drop lands nearby. This drop gives everyone on your squad the chance to pick one of their favorite weapons to use.
You select these preferred weapons through the weapon customization screen. You can have up to eight favorite weapons at once. If you’re unsure which weapons perform well in RedSec, check out our list of the best RedSec weapons.
Note: You can earn Custom Weapon Drops by completing missions, which will be explained later. To unlock the best attachments for your weapons, you’ll need to level them up. Progression is quick, but playing in regular multiplayer can help you unlock attachments faster.
Where To Drop In Battlefield RedSec
Starting out, you and your squad will jump from a height and parachute down onto the Fort Lyndon map. Several points of interest across the map contain loot boxes and weapons. There’s no set “meta” spot to land, as loot is randomized and spread out. You can choose to land in areas with lots of players or take it slow from the map’s edges.
Avoiding The Ring
Unlike many Battle Royales, the ring that encircles the map in RedSec is extremely dangerous. It causes damage with just a couple of hits, and as it approaches, debris makes fighting near the edge very difficult. It’s vital to keep an eye on the ring because it moves quickly and often steadily. Early decisions—whether to move early, set up in the ring, or avoid the edges—are key to survival.
Tip: Use Zipline Towers to quickly redeploy with a parachute over larger distances. Boats, jeeps, and golf carts are also available for quick travel across the map.
Completing Missions In RedSec
Missions are important in RedSec. They become available shortly after a game starts, shown on your map. Completing these objectives—like planting a bomb, destroying intel, or aligning antennas—must be done quickly, as they have short time limits. After a few plays, you’ll get a sense of common patterns for these missions.
Mission Rewards
Finishing missions provides valuable rewards, including Custom Weapon Drops, weapon packages, vehicle trailer keys, and more. You can view potential rewards on the map before accepting a mission, encouraging you to prioritize completing as many as possible.
How To Get Vehicles In Battlefield RedSec
To use a vehicle, you need a Vehicle Trailer Key. These keys are rare and are found in the game world or earned as mission rewards. Once you have a key, you’ll see a small tank icon on your map marking a Vehicle Trailer. Interacting with it opens the trailer, and after a short wait—make sure no enemies are nearby—you can drive the vehicle out.
Tip: Vehicles have limited ammunition, balancing gameplay. You can resupply at Vehicle Resupply Stations scattered around the map.
