Items and Their Effects
Blade of Vengeance
Deals 50 damage to a random enemy whenever one of your troops dies.
Unless you’re playing as Leonid, expect many casualties. It’s smart to make enemies pay for each loss you suffer.
Crystal Mask
Gains 3 Crystals each time you kill an enemy.
This saves you from watching a Crystal Mine for resources.
Enchanted Totem
Places two Standard Seals on random tiles in your city.
You can’t choose where they go, but Seals boost the tiles they land on.
Family Crossbow
Spawns 2 temporary Crossbowmen at the start of each wave.
Crossbowmen are solid ranged units. Upgrading your Archery Range with Stunning Arrows gives you more stunning effects each wave.
Free Housing
The next 3 buildings you construct cost nothing.
Use this on expensive buildings; avoid using on small or cheap ones like planting trees.
Golden Bull
Receives 25 Wheat at the start of each wave.
Wheat adds up over time, which helps as your force grows.
Hand of the Avenged
Applies Wrath to a random friendly unit whenever one of your troops dies.
This attack speed boost is helpful but make sure your army isn’t wiped out or there won’t be anyone left for Wrath to affect.
Homemade Fireworks
Gives you a Fireworks spell every three waves.
This provides a quick boost to your production capabilities.
Indescribable Figurine
Every 140 seconds, a friendly unit that dies will return as a Dreadful Creature.
These creatures are powerful temporary units, making it worthwhile to let a Grunt or Warrior transform.
Iron Helmet
Increases the max HP of all current and future troops by 30.
More useful early on when units are smaller and need more health.
Mason’s Scroll
Restores 3 Castle HP every time you cast a spell.
Best when you have reliable ways to get spells frequently.
Means of Production
Gives you one of each Basic Production Building: Wheat Field, Sawmill, Iron Mine, and Clay Mine.
These structures are more valuable than they seem, making this artifact worth using even once.
Metal Mask
Gives 3 Ore each time you kill an enemy.
Ore is easier to find than some resources but still very important; always keep a supply.
Miner’s Lamp
Gives you 25 Ore at the start of each wave.
Same reason as above — useful to have consistent resource flow.
Moon Talisman
Gives 3 Healer Mages each time you upgrade your Gaze.
Good early on, but its usefulness decreases in later stages.
Mystic Stone
Deals 12 damage per second to a random enemy.
A nice damage boost for your army.
Porcelain Chip
Gives 25 Clay at the beginning of each wave.
Clay’s value depends on your strategy, but it’s critical when needed.
Red Eye
Increases all buildings’ operation speed by 5%.
A small but useful bonus that stacks with other enhancements.
Royal Crown
Gives you 5 Fireworks spells immediately.
Similar to Homemade Fireworks but all at once for a bigger impact.
Rune Shard
Reduces cooldown of one King Ability by 25% (depends on the shard’s color).
All are useful, but best to choose based on your King’s class.
Scribe’s Quill
Instantly grants the blueprints for Magic School, Magic College, and Archmage’s University.
You need enough resources to build them. Alternatively, Leo can trade the blueprints for Morale.
Tasty Fruit
Adds 2 to your unit limit.
Extra troops are helpful but might not be enough to overwhelm enemies alone.
Vine Mask
Gives 4 Grapes each time you kill an enemy.
Useful for boosting wineries or recruiting units that need Grapes.
Wood Pile
Gives you 25 Wood at the start of each wave.
Always useful to have a steady supply of Wood.
Wooden Key
Gives 3 Wood every time you create a new unit.
Essentially, you get Wood each time a unit dies, assuming you can replace them.
Old Dice
Gives 40 of a randomly-selected resource at the start of each wave.
Can lead to some surprisingly valuable resource drops.
Voodoo Beads
Allows you to reroll once for free each time you select a reward.
If the reroll isn’t helpful, you can trade it for extra Denarii.
Mage’s Notebook
Immediately gives 2 spell picks.
If you already have six spells, new picks will be discarded. Make sure your spell slots have room.
