Quria: Mastering the Blade Rushdown Boss Strategy Guide

Destiny 2 is packed with challenging boss encounters, and Rushdown compiles them into a series of battles that will truly test your skills as a Guardian. One of the more formidable opponents in Rushdown is Quria, Blade Transform, which made its debut in the Season of the Splicer, spanning from May to August 2021. Newer players or those returning to the thrilling episode of Heresy may find themselves struggling against this long-gone adversary from the game’s history.

Quria is a Vex Mind Hydra that was captured by Oryx after he acquired the ability to Take from the Deep. Originally created by the Vex to combat the Hive, it ultimately failed and was Taken by Oryx upon its defeat. Later, Quria was gifted to Savathûn, who eventually mastered the ability to Take as well. Guardians now face an updated but still fearsome version of this powerful foe during the Guardian Games Rushdown activity.

Best Loadouts for Quria in Destiny 2

Quria Is Stationary, But You Must Keep Moving

Taking on Quria can be quite complicated, as it’s not a fight where you can just stand still. Many bosses in Destiny 2 allow for a more static approach—shooting at them until you hit a damage threshold or defeat them entirely. But that isn’t the case here. Unless you’re a Wellock with ample healing abilities, your fireteam must remain mobile to avoid both Quria’s attacks and those of the minions, ensuring survival. For seasoned players, consider switching loadouts after the initial damage phase for increased durability.

Be sure to equip Void resistance for Quria’s primary attack, as well as Sniper resistance for the long-range damage you’ll face.

For your loadouts, having a Warlock with Speaker’s Sight can be vital for a fireteam that may not have a solid strategy or is uncertain about their survival skills. This role focuses on keeping team members alive while clearing out pesky adds. Beware of sniper Hobgoblins, as they can take you down in just a couple of shots, depending on the particular Rushdown setup you encounter with Quria.

For the remaining team members, your primary objectives will be to maximize boss damage and clear adds, so you’ll need loadouts that promote survival while allowing for consistent attack. Heavy Machine Guns, Grenade Launchers, and non-precision weapons are your best options, since the DPS phase of this fight can be just as perilous as the downtime between attacks. Choose a Super that you can use effectively, preferably one that doesn’t require constant aiming or remaining stationary.

If you prefer a more passive strategy during the early stages, utilizing Anarchy or Witherhoard for damage over time can be effective. These Grenade Launchers can be placed on Quria to initiate damage, and then reapplied as needed. Although it may take longer, it’s a reliable approach to whittle Quria down to two-thirds health before entering the next phase.

How to Defeat Quria in Rushdown

Navigate Each Phase Strategically to Overcome This Challenging Boss

At the start of your confrontation with Quria, a few key elements will become apparent. First, two rotating shields orbit Quria at the center of the arena. Additionally, you will notice diamond-shaped objects floating around. Shooting these diamonds will reveal walls and barriers, which can be crucial for avoiding damage as you move throughout the arena. For the initial phase, focus on chipping away at Quria until it becomes immune—typically at about one-third of its health.

As the battle progresses, detainment bots will enter the arena and fly towards you and your team. Be proactive in shooting them down before they can detain any players, as being immobilized can lead to disaster in such a high-stakes fight.

Once Quria reaches full immunity, expect two additional foes to spawn—one Taken Minotaur and one Vex Minotaur on the outer edges of the arena. Both bosses will be shielded, and you must eliminate them before you can harm Quria again. To do this, look for a nearby glowing diamond-shaped object within the boss platform. Smashing this diamond will spawn an authentication key, which you need to drop into the specified location before the timer runs out.

In my experience, it’s often best for the Warlock to take the key. Their long jump ability can make getting to the dunk spot faster, circumventing any hazards on the way. As long as the team keeps aggro and clears any nearby adds, the Warlock should make it in time.

Each new Act of Destiny 2 introduces fresh weapons, some worth the effort and others that fall short in quality.

Once you’ve dunked the authentication key, the Minotaurs’ shields will drop, allowing you to deal damage to them. Counting on your Super here is beneficial, especially if you have a solid DPS weapon to assist in the task of defeating Quria. Repeat the process with the second Minotaur on the other side of the arena to completely drop Quria’s shield, leading into a fresh DPS phase.

If you’re playing as a Warlock and the team doesn’t need Well’s healing, consider using a Chaos Reach/Geomag Stabilizers build. Arc is particularly powerful this season, and employing Geomag/Delicate Tomb can let you have Chaos Reach ready within eight to ten adds killed.

During this DPS phase, Quria will also unleash more adds and a series of Disintegration Protocols, which manifest as damaging walls of Vex energy, capable of taking away a third of your health. These can be catastrophic if your entire team is caught off-guard, so be sure to stay mobile or avoid these walls while dealing damage. Instead of jumping onto higher platforms that put you at eye-level with Quria, stick to one of the lower platforms where you can still target the boss while minimizing risk.

Hopefully, you will successfully bring down Quria once you get its shields down. Maintain your mobility and prioritize survival, and you’ll conquer this challenging boss fight. Destiny 2 showcases a wide range of boss encounters, and mastering Quria’s mechanics can be tricky. Just remember to stay alert and prioritize your safety, and you’ll finish your Rushdown in no time.
