Endgame is a new game mode introduced with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. It’s similar to other player-versus-environment (PvE) modes that have appeared in many shooter games over the past few years. Whether playing alone or with a team, you will jump into the large Avalon map, which is similar to an MMO world. Your goal is to defeat enemies, complete various quests, and improve your character for future missions.
This game mode is based on progression. As you level up, your ability to explore more of the map increases, and tougher enemies appear. Treyarch claims this mode “changes the campaign,” and after trying it out before the official release, I agree with that statement.
How to Earn XP Quickly in Endgame
Combine missions and objectives for faster progress.
During each run, plan your actions. Opening your map and choosing a good starting point or activity can save time. Focus on tasks that give you the best balance of experience points (XP) and effort. For example, reclaiming caches often yields high-quality loot along with a lot of XP.
Collect Power Cubes frequently. The small blue cubes you see on the screen are essential. They contribute toward your Power Level, which acts as a form of XP. After combat, make sure to pick up any cubes you find, especially if they are in hard spots.
Reach Combat Rating 10 to move to the next zone. Once you hit level 10, you can go into the second zone. Keep progressing to zones at levels 30 and 45. The recommended Combat Ratings for each zone are:
- Zone 1: Level 0
- Zone 2: Level 10
- Zone 3: Level 30
- Zone 4: Level 45
Play it safe to avoid losing your progress. Dying without finishing the mission and extracting can cause you to lose gear and your earned Combat Rating. Use the Crash Cart ability, which lets you revive teammates or yourself if you’re bleeding out. Having backup options like this can save your progress and keep you in the game longer.
Tips for Success
- Drop into the map with a purpose. Each run is limited to 30 minutes before you need to extract. Choose a spot with many points of interest to make the most of your time.
- Note the easiest tasks. As you play, identify tasks that give a good amount of XP for the time spent. Reclaiming caches or lockboxes usually provides good loot and XP.
- Constantly grab Power Cubes. Collect any blue cubes you see to boost your Power Level, especially after fights.
- Advance to the next zone when ready. When your Combat Rating reaches 10, move toward the next zone and repeat the process. Continue this at levels 30 and 45 for higher-tier areas.
Endgame Progression Applies Everywhere
This progression system isn’t just for Endgame; it affects all game modes. Whether you’re playing the main campaign or this new mode, your account improves over time. This change encourages players to keep playing different modes, knowing their progress benefits everywhere.
Overall, Treyarch’s focus on progression through all modes makes each game session more rewarding. It’s a smart move that appeals to players who like to move across various parts of the game world. Hopefully, this fair and in-depth system continues in future releases.
