Sony has released a new system software update for the PS5 and PS5 Pro in March 2026, bringing several new features and improvements. The firmware version 26.02-13.00.00 patch notes detail what’s included:
– The PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) feature has been upgraded on the PS5 Pro, providing sharper and clearer visuals in supported titles. To activate the enhanced PSSR model for games that support PSSR but haven’t yet enabled it, navigate to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality. This upgrade is exclusive to PS5 Pro.
– Support for Unicode 17.0 emojis has been added, allowing users to include these new emojis in messages.
– The Welcome hub has received new functionalities:
– Showcase Mode can now display a full view of the Welcome hub background when the console is idle. Activating this mode automatically sets the hub to showcase when inactive.
– Slideshow Mode enables users to select an album as their background, rotating through images automatically. Both Showcase and Slideshow modes can be toggled within the Welcome hub settings, with options to determine the idle time before Showcase mode activates.
– Users can set their Welcome hub background directly from Media Gallery.
– A new background option has been introduced for the Welcome hub.
– Message display and overall usability across some screens have been enhanced for smoother interaction.
– Overall system performance and stability have been improved to ensure a better user experience.
