In addition to the 3D rendered graphics, Truxton Extreme features remastered tracks from the 1988 original and includes 18 chapters filled with arcade action by artist Junya Inoue. Players take on the role of Tatsuo, a fighter pilot who commands the Super Fighter ship to combat alien invaders.
The game will include multiple modes besides the traditional story campaign, such as:
- Story Mode – Combines action and comic storytelling. Progress through Truxton Extreme’s main story to unlock episodes, read comics, and complete shmup stages.
- Arcade Mode – Classic arcade challenge. Clear all stages consecutively in this fast-paced, relentless mode.
- Heart Starter – Designed for beginners, this forgiving mode allows players to recover quickly from hits and retain lives, even with mistakes.
- Team Mode – Team up with a friend for cooperative play. Share bombs, lives, and scores while rescuing each other during the alien invasion.
- Arena – A two-minute time trial mode where the goal is to defeat as many enemies as possible for the highest score.
- Pipiruville – Rescue Pipiru aliens by defeating enemies, then continue to develop and personalize Pipiruville and its village as a reward.
