Less than a day after news broke that Sony was actively cracking down on low-quality shovelware in the PS Store, a new scam game has surfaced and claimed the top spot in the demo section. PS5 users are advised to steer clear of SWAT Commander Simulator, published by the controversial developer Tetyana Vysochanska.
SWAT Commander Simulator, a clone of the PC game SWAT Commander, now offers a free demo on the PS Store
I often browse the demos section of the PS Store to stay updated on upcoming titles, and I nearly fell for SWAT Commander Simulator myself. It’s a blatant copy of the PC game SWAT Commander, which is still in early access on Steam.
Fortunately, the PS Store currently only lists a free demo for SWAT Commander Simulator. However, players should stay alert in case a full-priced version appears later. As we’ve seen before, many unwary gamers fall victim to these scams and end up losing money without the possibility of refunds.
Tetyana Vysochanska, the developer behind this game, somehow managed to avoid Sony’s ban list. We’ve known about this publisher for over a year now, and they’re notorious for flooding the store with low-quality titles. Players have reported their games before, but Sony hasn’t taken action yet.
Hopefully, Vysochanska will be added to Sony’s ban list soon.
