The previously removed feature on the PlayStation Store website has finally been reinstated, making browsing a bit easier. Sony had taken away the ability to view game images on the web store, forcing users to search elsewhere to see what the games look like.
The PlayStation Store still lags behind platforms like Steam and Xbox in many ways, and it doesn’t yet support trailers on the web version. But small wins like this are appreciated. Interestingly, trailers and videos are still available on the console’s store and the PlayStation App, so it’s unclear why Sony removed the images feature from the web version.
What’s even more unusual is that game screenshots were accessible through the store’s backend all along. They appeared in Google image searches, and tech enthusiasts could extract them directly from the store’s backend. It’s surprising that it took Sony so long to simply enable users to view these images normally.
Hopefully, game trailers will also make a comeback soon, along with better management of the numerous low-quality titles cluttering the PS Store. While Sony has begun cracking down on scam developers, the issue of unwanted and low-quality software persists.
