The Festival of the Lost has returned to Destiny 2, providing players the chance to honor fallen Guardians while collecting Candy for exciting rewards. This year offers even more opportunities to earn and spend this event currency. To dive right in, visit the Tower and seek out the beloved holiday figure, Eva Levante.

Just like in previous years, Eva is located in the heart of the Tower. Visit her to receive your event quest and unlock exclusive bounties. She’ll inform you about the Haunted Sectors and provide you with your festival mask, which is essential for gathering Candy. If you don’t have a mask stored in your vault from past events, make sure not to dismantle it.

How to Gather Candy

It’s Time for Some Pumpkin Hunt!

Gathering Candy is primarily accomplished through participating in event activities. Unlike the Guardian Games where you could use tricks to quickly collect Silver Leaves, there aren’t any shortcuts for stocking up on Candy this time around. To earn Candy, defeat enemies while wearing your Festival Mask. Focusing on activities with a high enemy spawn rate will help you amass Candy more efficiently.

While in the Tower, take a moment to climb the trees behind Eva or in front of Ikora to grab some extra free Candy.

After testing the Suro Chi farming method, which many players favor for catalyst completion, I found it less effective this year. Despite each run taking about two minutes and yielding around 20-25 Candy, Haunted Sectors proved far more rewarding, with an average of 70-90 Candy per run. Although Haunted Sectors take about 5:30 minutes without farming Headless Ones, they remain the best option for Candy collection.

For a more efficient strategy, focus on farming Headless Ones during the final phase of the sector. They typically drop between five to seven Candies each, compared to the one Candy common enemies drop. If you bypass the boss during damage phases, you can keep spawning Headless Ones, maximizing your Candy haul.

That said, this approach will be time-consuming, so weigh your options carefully. If gathering a fireteam for Haunted Sectors is tough, simply running them solo with a matchmade team is just as effective and will still yield good results.

You can also obtain event bounties from Eva in the Tower. She offers weekly (+250 Candy), daily (+30 Candy), and repeatable bounties (+20 Candy). Since they provide Candy rewards, it’s worthwhile to pick them up before diving into Haunted Sectors, as they can give you a nice boost in earnings. However, there’s a quicker way to stock up on Candy without taking on any bounties.

The Best Candy Farm During the Festival of the Lost

Surprisingly, It’s Not the Event Activity

Some activities will reward Candy for defeating enemies, while others provide Candy upon completion. Although a recent nerf made this Prismatic Warlock build a bit less effective, it still holds up well for clearing enemies. Interestingly, Heroic Public Events are currently the best way to earn Candy due to their combination of enemy drops and completion rewards. You can check out insights on this method from sources like xHOUNDISHx on YouTube.

Your best bet for Candy farming is to head back to the EDZ and tackle Heroic Public Events with any players you find solo or in a team. Heroic Public Events are straightforward to complete, offering around 185 Candy per successful run. When you factor in Candy gathered from defeated enemies, you could potentially earn 200-300 Candy per event.

The EDZ is an ideal area for farming due to the frequent occurrence of Public Events. The expanse allows you to move seamlessly from one event to another, continuously gathering Candy. Once you feel you’ve collected enough or if you want a break from Public Events, return to Eva to spend your Candy.

How Can Candy Be Spent?

Purchase Exotic Class Items or Roll for an Event Weapon

This year, a thrilling aspect of Candy is its use for acquiring Exotic Class Items from Eva in the Tower. Each will cost 2,500 Candy and one Eerie Engram, which makes it a more efficient way to obtain these items compared to grinding Dual Destiny repeatedly. Make sure you’re attuned to the Exotic aspect you want before purchasing from Eva by speaking to your Ghost in the Pale Heart’s Tower.

This option is fantastic news for solo players, as Dual Destiny usually requires a partner. In previous years, solo players struggled to unlock Exotic Class Items without teaming up, something that Bungie recognized and addressed by including these items in Eva’s inventory this year.

As for event weapons, you’ll have a selection to choose from, including this year’s addition, the Arcane Embrace, a Heavy Burst Arc Shotgun. This shotgun releases two powerful shots, minimizing flinch while aiming. Below are some perks it can roll with:

Perks
Air Trigger
Closing Time
Fourth Time’s The Charm
Desperado
Grave Robber
Precision Instrument
Lone Wolf
Surrounded
Slideshot
Swashbuckler
Dual Loader
Voltshot
Threat Detector
Tap the Trigger

Whether you prefer running Haunted Sectors or tackling Public Events in the EDZ, collecting Candy during this Festival of the Lost event should be a breeze. The festival will run for the next three weeks, wrapping up at reset on November 19th at 9:00 am PST. Venture forth and hunt down those Headless Ones, and don’t forget to grab bounties from Eva for additional rewards!
