Konami has removed several popular titles from the PlayStation Store without any prior notice, sparking frustration among gamers. The titles pulled include the PS3 version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the PSP version of Peace Walker, and the 2014 PSN release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Many fans believe these removals are linked to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2, which was officially announced with an August 27 release date during the recent PlayStation State of Play. However, the complication is that this collection is for modern consoles, and the original versions of these games will no longer be available on their initial platforms—effectively making them permanently inaccessible without any clear reason.
A tweet highlighted the situation, noting that Konami suddenly delisted the Xbox 360, PS3, and PSP versions of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, along with the 2014 PSN release of Metal Gear Solid 4. The store page for Peace Walker HD on PS3 was completely taken down, leaving fans disappointed. The poster expressed frustration, calling out Konami for the move.
While current owners who previously bought Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker can still access these titles, new purchases appear to be permanently disabled. It’s worth mentioning that the PS3’s PlayStation Store is nearing its end, so some level of decline was expected—still, the timing and manner of these removals feel puzzling to many.
