Slowpoke is making a comeback in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, along with Slowbro and Slowking. While the use of the King’s Rock remains similar to previous games, you’ll now need to find one specifically in Lumiose City this time.
The good part is, Slowpoke isn’t rare or hard to find. They are quite common once you’ve made some progress in the main story.
Where to Find Slowpoke in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Easy to Catch Early in the Game
If you’re searching for Slowpoke, you’ll have no trouble catching them in Wild Zones 10 and 11. Just go there at night, and you’ll see plenty to catch.
After catching a Slowpoke, the next step is to get a King’s Rock to make it evolve.
How to Get a King’s Rock for Slowpoke
One Simple Side Mission
The easiest way to get a King’s Rock is by completing Side Mission 084: Strike First to Make ’em Flinch. This mission is located south of Quasartico Inc., in the northwest part of Lumiose City, in the Magenta Sector.
Talk to the NPC Flynn, and then talk again to start a battle. The Pokémon they send out include:
- Sharpedo (Level 52)
- Arbok (Level 52)
- Gyarados (Level 53)
Since their team mostly uses water Pokémon, Electric and Grass moves work really well. After winning the battle, you’ll earn the King’s Rock.
Alternatively, Buy It at Racine Construction
Once you’ve finished the game, Racine Construction opens up two vendors that sell held items, including evolutionary items. You can buy a King’s Rock for $4,980.
How to Evolve Slowpoke into Slowking
This evolution requires giving Slowpoke the King’s Rock and then trading it to another player. The trade code for Slowpoke is 0139-0139. After the trade, you’ll receive a Slowbro holding the King’s Rock, which will then evolve into Slowking.
When trading with others, make sure to check the Pokémon to confirm it is holding the held item before completing the trade.
