Pokémon GO is getting ready for another special event this August called Delightful Days: Taken Over. This event happens once per game season and focuses on Team GO Rocket activities. It will run from August 11 at 10 a.m. local time until August 17 at 8 p.m. local time.
This event is part of the current Delightful Days season. Like previous events, it will feature new team lineups for key Rocket members such as Giovanni, with exact teams still to be announced. The Taken Over event will also change raid battles and offer players special bonuses.
Pokémon GO: Delightful Days Launch and Raid Battles
8 New Raids To Tackle
During this event, there will be eight new raid encounters. The biggest highlight is the debut of Shadow Kyogre, a legendary Pokémon from the third generation, available in the tough 5-star raids.
In addition, shadow forms of Pokémon like Bellsprout, Aipom, Teddiursa, and Seedot will appear in one-star raids. For three-star raids, players can take on Girafarig, Absol, and Whirlipede, which can be defeated solo if you use the right counters.
Another exciting change is the addition of more Shadow Pokémon to the raids. These are some of the updates:
- One-star raids: Bellsprout, Aipom, Teddiursa, Seedot
- Three-star raids: Girafarig, Absol, Whirlipede
Plus, shiny Salandit will make its first appearance, found in 12 km eggs.
Bonuses During Delightful Days
There are also some great benefits for players during this event. Team GO Rocket will appear more often at PokéStops and in Rocket Balloons, making it easier to find and battle them.
You can use a Charged TM to teach new moves to Shadow Pokémon, replacing the annoying Frustration move, which normally cannot be changed. Pokémon caught from Shadow raids—especially those in 1- or 3-star raids—may also have higher stats and IVs.
The biggest opportunity is to catch a Shadow Giratina. As part of the Special Research tasks available during the event, you’ll get a chance to catch this legendary, but only after defeating all the team leaders, including Cliff.
Overall, Delightful Days: Taken Over is shaping up to be one of the best Pokémon GO events recently, with must-try Shadow Raids and exciting rewards for players.
