In Persona 3 Reload, Theurgy Attacks are special moves used to damage enemies. You can only unlock these attacks after Fuuka joins your team. There are seven Theurgy Attacks available for the main character, and each teammate will also unlock their own unique Theurgy Attacks.
Each Theurgy Attack requires two specific Personas that team up to perform the move. In the original Persona 3, there were more Fusion Skills, but many were removed in Reload to streamline the game. The remaining Theurgy Attacks are still very useful, so it’s worth unlocking them.
How to Unlock All Theurgy Attacks for the Main Character
These special moves depend only on the Personas registered in your Compendium. To unlock a new Theurgy, you need to register both Personas involved; you can use the Fusion even if you don’t currently have those Personas.
To register a Persona, recruit it first, then visit Elizabeth in the Velvet Room. Select “Compendium” and register each Persona individually, or just choose “Register All” to save time. Make sure to register Personas before fusing to avoid missing out on options.
Keep in mind that some Personas require you to build up specific Social Links to unlock their Theurgy Attacks. Prioritize leveling the right links to access the moves you find most useful.
Some attacks, such as Armageddon, can be extremely powerful—able to take down enemies like the Reaper in one shot—making them very valuable for tough battles, especially in final boss fights. However, be aware that some moves come with costs, so read their descriptions carefully before using them.
How the Theurgy Meter is Charged
The protagonist’s Theurgy Meter charges by swapping to different Personas and using their skills. Higher floors in Tartarus also have Cups cards that can help charge the meter partially or fully. Other party members charge their Theurgy Meter using different methods, depending on their abilities.
The List of Theurgy Attacks
Here are some of the main Theurgy Attacks for the protagonist, along with the Personas needed and their effects:
Attack Name | Required Personas | Effect |
---|---|---|
Jack Brothers | Jack Frost & Jack-o-Lantern | Medium Almighty damage to all enemies, chance to inflict Down. |
Cadenza | Orpheus & Apsaras | Restores 50% HP to all allies; boosts accuracy and evasion. |
King and I | Black Frost & King Frost | Heavy Ice damage to all foes, chance to Freeze. |
Scarlet Havoc | Siegfried & Mithras | Severe slash damage to one enemy. |
Trickster | Susano-o & Loki | Very high Almighty damage to all enemies, chance to cause ailments. |
Best Friends | Forneus & Decarabia | Next attack deals more than double damage for one ally. |
Armageddon | Helel & Satan | Maximum Almighty damage (9,999), user’s HP and SP drop to 1. |
Not all Theurgy Attacks are easy to unlock, as some require rare Personas. Focus on those that suit your playstyle—support or damage—so your goal is long-term and flexible.
Party Members’ Theurgy Attacks
Most members have two Theurgy Attacks. The first unlocks early, and the second becomes available after they earn their Ultimate Persona. Exceptions exist: Koromaru only has one Persona but gets two attacks, while Shinjiro only has one.
Each character charges their Theurgy Meter differently, usually by performing specific actions or skills. For example, Yukari charges her meter by using her Wind attack or healing others. Others like Junpei or Akihiko do so by landing critical hits or using specific skills.
How to Use Theurgy Attacks Effectively
Timing is key. You should use Theurgies strategically—exploiting enemy Weaknesses, avoiding their resistances, and watching for potential negative effects. Some attacks can be very damaging or provide powerful buffs, so knowing when and how to use them will maximize their benefit.
Enemy affinities still matter—an enemy weak to Light Damage will take additional damage from your Light-based Theurgy. Also, if a character is knocked out, their Theurgy Meter will be halved when they return, so plan accordingly.
Using Theurgies can influence your choice of party members for each battle. For certain tough enemies, it might be worth building up your meter before unleashing a Theurgy or using specific moves to overcome resistances.
Tips for Charging Theurgy Fast
To boost your Theurgy Meter quickly, swap Personas during battles, or shuffle Arcana Cards, which can also help fill the meter faster. Some bosses in the DLC require the use of particular Theurgy Attacks to defeat them, giving you hints to prepare before challenging them.
By practicing these techniques, you’ll be able to use Theurgies more effectively throughout Persona 3 Reload, especially as you get accustomed to the new moves introduced in the DLC and the changes for enhanced combat strategy.
