No Man’s Sky has recently unveiled its latest update, dubbed The Aquarius, which launched on September 4, 2024. This new feature adds an exciting activity that players have eagerly anticipated: fishing.

With this patch, players can now land their starships near serene ravines or tranquil lakes, unwind, and cast their lines to discover what fish are swimming in nearby waters. The introduction of fishing offers a perfect opportunity for players, known as Travelers, to take a break from their intense adventures in space.

The fantastic aspect of this feature is that it comes with none of the dangers posed by pirates, Sentinels, or enormous insect monsters.

Getting Started with Fishing

The first thing players should understand is how to kick off their fishing journey by acquiring a Fishing Rig from the Anomaly.

Head over to the Anomaly and speak with Iteration Eos, who is located in the research area behind Polo and Nada, as stated by TheGamer.

Here, you can purchase the Fishing Rig blueprint from Eos for just one Nanite. After obtaining the blueprint, you’ll need to install the Fishing Rig onto your Multi-Tool, which requires three Carbon Nanotubes, one Di-Hydrogen Jelly, and 60 Chromatic Metal.

Mastering the Art of Fishing

Once the Fishing Rig is attached to your Multi-Tool, you’re all set to start catching fish in any body of water you’ll encounter throughout the game. Fortunately, fish can thrive in various planetary environments, as long as there’s water present.

When you arrive at the water’s edge, select your Fishing Rig from the Multi-Tool and cast your line where indicated on the water’s surface. The most challenging aspect of fishing is the waiting period, as it may take some time for a fish to take the bait.

When you notice the lure bobbing in the water, accompanied by a yellow flash, it indicates that a fish has shown interest in your bait. If the lure sinks and your Fishing Rig along with it glows green, congratulations—you’ve hooked a fish, and it’s time to reel it in!

The Fish You Can Catch

The latest No Man’s Sky update has introduced over 160 different species of fish scattered throughout the game’s myriad planets. Some fish can only be found during specific times of day or under certain weather conditions, according to GameSpot.

The addition of fishing by Hello Games was a brilliant move, considering the vast amount of water available across the numerous planets and galaxies in the game—especially following the July Worlds update.

The update also features a logbook that records players’ catches, presented in an 8×4 grid spanning six pages.

Players can look forward to catching many different types of fish, such as jellyfish, sea snails, octopuses, starfish, turtles, sea cucumbers, and much more, as detailed by PCGamer.
