It’s been over four years since Guilty Gear Strive launched. As Season 4 comes to an end, many fans are curious about the future of the series. We know Season 5 is coming, but there’s been no word about a new Guilty Gear game at Arc System Works’ recent showcase.

New Guilty Gear Game Cancelled, According to Report

Unfortunately, it’s been reported that an in-development Guilty Gear game has been cancelled. According to Insider Gaming, their sources indicate this cancellation occurred in the last few weeks, but no specific reason was given.

The report does not clarify how far along the game was in development. It’s possible that it was still early in the process, which might lessen the impact of the cancellation for Arc System Works. The studio is also working on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, so developing two major titles at once may have been too ambitious.

While this speculation is uncertain, it’s important to highlight that Guilty Gear Strive is still performing well. The anticipated crossover with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is expected soon. The game remains visually appealing and continues to receive updates. Since fans aren’t rushing for a new release, this cancellation might not be a big issue as long as the team is okay.

It’s possible that the focus on Marvel Tokon and this cancellation could mean Guilty Gear Strive may see a few more seasons. This could give fans more chances to enjoy their favorite characters. After all, Elphelt Valentine is already part of the game, and many fans might not want to play as anyone else.
