A highly anticipated first-person shooter sequel is hitting shelves this week, and early reviews are showing a promising reception.
What PS5 first-person shooter sequel has earned promising reviews?
High on Life 2, the follow-up to Squanch Games’ 2022 hit High on Life, is set to launch on February 13, 2026. Initial reviews have been largely positive. On the review aggregator OpenCritic, the game received an impressive score of 79, with 79% of critics recommending it. Many reviewers highlight the game’s wild narrative as a significant improvement over its predecessor.
<Scott Ellison II from Saving Content> praised High on Life 2 as a “superior” sequel, emphasizing that it introduces fresh ideas never seen before in other games. He mentioned, “Humor is very subjective, but I think the comedy in this game aligns well if you enjoy the humor of Tim Robinson. High On Life 2 offers more of the same, but in a more polished, focused space adventure where its crude humor fits perfectly within its universe.”

Rafa Del Río from IGN Spain shared similar sentiments, describing the game as “a narrative shooter mixing various elements to craft a unique and highly satisfying experience. The frantic combat on skateboards, hilarious dialogue, and countless crazy scenarios make this sequel engaging for all shooter fans. It’s a 90s-style space opera you’ll want in your game collection.”
<Patrick Meurs from Gameliner> also gave a positive review, calling the game “bigger, louder, and completely wild — the perfect sequel.” On the other hand, CGMagazine’s Marcus Kenneth offered a more lukewarm take, noting that the game’s “biggest issues, aside from technical bugs, are that the new additions feel counterintuitive and seem to work against what initially made the first game a cult hit.”
