Donkey Kong Bananza sets the stage for excitement, featuring early game zones filled with entertaining nods to the past. One of these zones is the Hilltop Layer (SL 200), where you can tackle the “Nostalgia Country” challenge course. This quick bonus level holds three bananas, referred to as Banandium Gems, which are akin to the stars or moons found in the Super Mario universe.

How to Locate Nostalgia Country in Donkey Kong Bananza
It’s located at the Undertone Canal in SL 200 – Hilltop Layer.
Once you reach the Hilltop Layer, the second primary area in Donkey Kong Bananza, you’re almost there! To find Nostalgia Country, head to the far corner of the map opposite the Warp Gong/main hub, and look for the Undertone Canal. You might have to adjust your map slightly so you can see the canal below the core layer. You can either warp there or walk directly into the canal.
After you drop in, check to your left before entering the large hallway. Spot the door sealed with purple decorations? Sing to it with DK and Pauline (using the L button) to unlock it. Step through the doorway to kick off the Nostalgia Country bonus stage.
Where to Find All Bananas in Nostalgia Country
There’s a Secret Banana at the Start.
The first banana you need is the trickiest to find. Veteran Donkey Kong fans will recognize DK’s home from the classic Donkey Kong Country on SNES. You’ll need to climb up to snag this banana. Use the ZR button to break off a piece of the floor, and then “chunk jump” (double-tap the jump button while holding the chunk) to grab onto the edge of the elevated platform above you. Enter the building, bounce on the tire, and punch upward to collect the banana.
To find the second banana, simply progress through the level until you spot a large banana on the ground. The third banana is located right at the end of the level—it’s hard to miss! You’ll pick it up before exiting Nostalgia Country. Afterward, just hop into the barrel to continue your adventure. With that, you’ve fully explored Nostalgia Country and are one step closer to collecting every banana in Donkey Kong Bananza.
