Earlier this year, retro game experts Digital Eclipse announced that their next major project is the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. The initial announcement showed that the collection would include the original four Mortal Kombat games, along with their arcade and handheld versions. Since then, Digital Eclipse has also confirmed that Mortal Kombat Trilogy from 1996 will be part of the collection.
A collection of this classic games wouldn’t feel complete without a physical version, and there’s good news — a physical release of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is planned for before the end of 2025. There will be three different editions to choose from. Details about each edition, including pre-order links, are provided below.

Editions Breakdown
For those only interested in the game’s physical release, the standard edition is their simplest option, available on all current-generation consoles and the original Nintendo Switch, starting at $49.99.
The deluxe edition offers physical extras such as a SteelBook case and mini marquees. The price for this edition will be either $69.99 or $79.99, depending on your platform. However, it appears the Xbox Series X|S version of the deluxe edition won’t be available.
The most premium choice is the Kollector’s Edition, sold through Limited Run Games. It includes exclusive items like a Goro statue that can hold a controller. Since it’s a limited release, pre-orders need to be placed before it’s no longer available on August 31. This edition does not have a confirmed release date, but the standard and deluxe versions are scheduled to launch on December 12, 2025.
Why a Physical Version Matters
This collection features the original four Mortal Kombat titles, along with their arcade and portable versions, giving fans the chance to experience the series from the beginning. Mortal Kombat Trilogy from 1996, which combines characters from the first three games, has also been added. It’s likely there could be more reveals about additional games included, so fans might get even more classic titles when the collection launches later this year.
The physical copies will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Digital versions will be accessible across the same platforms, including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, on December 12, 2025.
