Helldivers 2 introduces Cyborg enemies now that the Machinery of Oppression update has expanded the fight to Cyberstan, the home of the Automatons. These frightening hybrids of human and machine pose a real threat on the battlefield, but they also have clear weaknesses that make them easier to take down if you choose the right weapons. If you’re heading into the dangerous zone of Cyberstan, it’s important to know how to handle the Cyborgs and what gear to bring.
There are two new types of enemies exclusive to Cyberstan: the Agitators and the Radicals. As the second Galactic War forces Helldivers into robot territory, these new bot overlords—known as Helldivers 2 Automatons—have started deploying these units to fight back.
Agitators are the armored leaders of the Cyborgs. They control Helldivers 2 troops and carry a powerful laser cannon, which they fire from afar. When you shoot an Agitator, it can briefly stun nearby Automatons. Interestingly, they are weaker than they appear, with only light armor covering their heads and bodies. Shooting them in the chest can break off their torso armor, but this doesn’t seem to cause additional damage.
Radicals are fast and aggressive soldiers that carry a shotgun-like weapon, throw smoke grenades to hide their movements, and love to charge into melee combat. They’re less protected than their leaders, wearing only light armor, which makes them vulnerable. Still, don’t underestimate them—Radicals can damage your limbs, cause bleeding with their blasts, and are quick to close the distance and attack with kicks, often knocking you down. They’re fierce enemies that should be dealt with swiftly before they get close.
The main weakness of Cyborgs is their lack of heavy armor. Agitators have light armor, and Radicals are even less protected, which means most weapons in the game can damage them effectively. For the fastest kills, use weapons with medium armor penetration. The Double Eagle shotgun is a solid choice, but others like the PLAS-101 Purifier, PLAS-1 Scorcher, Adjudicator assault rifle, and Coyote assault rifle work well too. Many support weapons can also do the job, especially when facing these enemy types.
When fighting Cyberstan’s automaton foes, remember you’ll also encounter other machine enemies like Factory Striders and Gunships—be prepared to take those down as well.
Stay prepared, choose your weapons wisely, and you’ll be able to survive the cyborg onslaught in Helldivers 2.
