In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, having a torch isn’t just about lighting your way; it’s also a tool to help you look innocent. When the night falls in settlements, characters are expected to have torches in hand; wandering around in the dark raises suspicion. If you want to be seen as aboveboard and stay on the right side of the law, our guide below will help you learn how to equip and use a torch effectively.
How to Find a Torch in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
You can snag torches from most bandit foes and combatants, including guards and soldiers. You don’t necessarily have to take them out to acquire a torch: a good pickpocketing job can also get you one, albeit with some risk.
Another reliable way to obtain torches is through traders. They usually stock at least one torch, and you can find them in most big settlements, with some non-trader merchants occasionally having them for sale too.
After you’ve got a torch, open your inventory to equip it to Henry. When you’re ready to use it, simply press the down button on the D-Pad to switch it on. The torch stays in your off-hand but can’t be wielded as a weapon, which means if you have it out, your combat options are limited (for instance, you can’t use a shield while holding a torch).
As noted earlier, having a torch in hand is expected behavior in settlements once night falls. If you’re caught wandering around without one, guards might demand you equip a torch right away or could even turn aggressive towards you. However, remember that a lit torch does make you less stealthy, so if you’re planning something sneaky, it’s best to stick to the shadows.
