In the Alltrades Abbey area of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, you’ll face a puzzle that’s a fresh take on a familiar dungeon challenge. It’s the classic puzzle where you move mirrors to direct a beam of light, but with some twists. You need to solve this puzzle to rescue Jacqueline, get through the Pit of Silence, and unlock the ability to switch jobs.
To finish the puzzle, you must position a series of mirrors so that two lasers hit two glowing crystal balls. There are a couple of tricky parts: some mirrors in front of the targets can’t be moved, and in the second part of the puzzle, you have to reflect the beams back toward the first set of mirrors. If you’re stuck, here’s a simple way to solve it.
How to Solve the First Part of the Mirror Puzzle
The first part is pretty straightforward. Just use the mirrors on the left side of the room, arranging them as shown in the reference image. Aim the beam at the left crystal ball. When hit correctly, it will explode, completing the first part and allowing you to move on.
How to Tackle the Second Part of the Puzzle
The second half is more challenging. When you start, a helpful tip from your companion is that there aren’t enough mirrors on the right side to direct the laser into the crystal ball. There’s also a big wall dividing the puzzle into two parts, but it has two large gaps.
Your goal is to use mirrors on both sides of the wall to bounce the laser through the gaps, reaching the mirrors on the left side. Place the mirrors as shown in the reference images: aim the beam through the gap near the bottom and then bounce it up and back through the top gap, guiding it toward the target.
If you think you’ve messed up beyond repair, press the pause or options button (or the equivalent on your platform) to reset the room. Restarting the room will restore all mirrors to their original positions without undoing the progress you’ve already made in the first part.
Why This Puzzle Matters
Completing this challenge doesn’t give you immediate rewards, but it’s essential to advance the story. Solving it unlocks the vocation system, opening up new gameplay options in the game. Since this feature is behind one of the toughest puzzles in the game, it’s worth taking the time to get it right.
